Amy Winehouse Charity Launches On Her Birthday

LONDON -- Amy Winehouse's family has launched a youth charity in her name to mark what would have been the singer's 28th birthday.

Winehouse, who had long fought drug and alcohol problems, was found dead at her London home on July 23. Her family says toxicology reports indicated there was alcohol in her bloodstream but it was unclear whether this had contributed to her death.

The soul diva's father, Mitch Winehouse, says the Amy Winehouse Foundation will support organizations that help young people who are vulnerable, including those with addictions.

Her mother Janis said: "It is a source of great comfort to know that Amy would be proud of this."

The charity will derive much of its first income from the release of Winehouse's duet with Tony Bennett, "Body And Soul," on Wednesday.

Amy was so pretty before the drink/drugs. But one thing remained........her beautiful voice!!! RIP Amy, I'll never forget you and those lovely Jazz standards that you sang.

Yes, I saw those pictures (St. Lucia) and it was during her battles with the drink/drugs. Proof that the alcohol and drugs can do horrible things to you phyiscal features. But before all that, Amy was a very nice looking girl.

I watched the Anderson Cooper program with her family. It was very touching. What a shame that as she was trying to get her life under control, the end came. I thought her family seemed like such supportive and wonderful people, who loved their daughter and tried to help. How sad that it simply was not enough to save her. RIP.

Blessings to both of Amy's parents Mitch and Janet...even through their grief they are seeking to make a difference and make the world a bit of a better place. I think Amy would have been proud of both of them for their generosity and kindness.
