Chris Hayes Dances And Rehearses For New MSNBC Show 'Up' (VIDEO)

Chris Hayes

On Thursday, MSNBC offered a peek into the rehearsal for its newest show, "Up with Chris Hayes," which debuts on Saturday morning at 7 AM ET.

The 11-minute, rather freewheeling clip shows Hayes -- who was Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell's main fill-in before being tapped for his own program -- doing a mock segment with a panel of guests. Initially, it also teases the viewer into thinking that this will be a hip-hop-and-fist-pumping related show, as Hayes plays one and does the other for a couple minutes. (This is basically our favorite part of this clip, because it makes us picture Maddow warming up to, say, crazy death metal, or Chris Matthews banishing everyone from the office while he blasts Frank Sinatra.)

The whole thing takes place in what looks like a conference room deep in the bowels of 30 Rock. (The actual show, of course, will be on a snazzy looking studio set.) It's intriguing to see the mass of cameras and wires and people all clustered around Chris Hayes sitting at a nondescript table and reading New York Times headlines off of his laptop--just a taste of what's to come. The panel segment seems to go off without a hitch, too.

My head practically exploded watching Maddow and Hayes on the same show having a coffee table kind of exchange. Great TV!

I love this show! Watched both mornings and found the informal setting and guests to be a perfect mix. Was actually really informative and my only wish is that this was on every morning. I loathe morning joe and really only watch cnn for the news and find myself wanting for something liberal in the a.m. so usually go to c-span and watch re-runs of previous hearings. I pray Chris has success as this has become a fav of mine. Plus Rachael and Chris are scarey smart, just loved it.

Great show Sunday morning. Quality of two hour program made David Gregory on Meet the Press look like a wimp and a political thumb sucker. Way to go Chris!!

I am on the WC and I did not see the advertised Saturday program either at 7am or 8am locally. What happened. This guy is one of the smartest around. So unlike the Fox personnel. Pays to have brains combined with a good education.

I watched Chris both days and I found him to be well informed and fair minded. It was refreshing to hear people actually discussing issues with different views rather repeating the clap trap someone else had spit up. It's a rare day when you can turn on a news show and learn something new or enlightening. I learned about Uncle Warren and his gouging of shippers who use his trains and the solar company that applied for a government loan on Bush's watch that Obama is getting slammed for cronyism today. And no one felt the need to shout over the other one's point.

I love the show. I would love for Chris to invite someone on who isn't afraid to go along with a gag and tuck into one of the baked goodies, and every time the camera pans to that person, he/she is relishing it with a blissful expression. Nothing to say. Just chewing. Then reaching for more.

The male guest on the Sunday show (I'm sorry I've forgotten his mane) was sort of like that. He is the only one I saw eating the muffins.

It's a great show. Unfortunately, I now have to get up early on Saturday and Sunday. I wish he could change places with that puffed up blowhard VSM Villager Joe Scarborough.

I was thinking the very same thing. I'm so sick of him having to remind us that he used to be a Congressman. And his smugness is getting worse. My husband and I don't even bother to watch the show anymore because of him.

Ditto! Several or more times. This guy is a quality act. I hope one day that Fareed Zakaria and Spitzer would come to MSNBC. They can have the goated idiot who has at best average intelligence and his show only has Jack to recommend it.

I really enjoyed the intelligent exchange of thought on this new show. I will be watching. I was also aware there were not a bunch of old white men on it! Yea. A group of people who represent me. This might just be the show for the younger, under 50, population!

Glad MSNBC recognize Chris Hayes' ability to make a valuable contribution.

I watched for the first time this morning and loved it! I like the 2 hour format where no one is shouting over the other, and there were not an annoying number of commercials to get through, which made the pace of the conversation flow well. I will be setting this up on my DVR. Good on Chris Hayes!
