Ojai Valley Taxidermy Commercial Is The Perfect Local Ad (VIDEO)

First Posted: 09/15/11 01:34 PM ET Updated: 11/15/11 05:12 AM ET

If you hadn't heard of Ojai Valley Taxidermy in Ojai, California until today, don't worry. You're not alone.

But if you need to stuff an antelope or leopard in the future and consider calling anyone but Chuck Testa for the job, you're a fool. Clearly he's the best in the business.

We don't even have an animal to be stuffed in our offices, we don't even know what we'd do with an enormous, life-like buffalo head, but we want one after watching this commercial made by IFC's Rhett and Link: Commercial Kings.

This commercial is not funny. To be used for taxidermy, those animals were not killed for food- which would have destroyed the animal's body. Most likely, they were killed by trophy hunters. Trophy hunting is bad enough, but there is now the business of canned hunts, wherein animals are corraled and cornered for the precise purpose of being shot and killed by hunters. The animals were gunned down in cold blood.

Wow. Speculate much? You do realize that you can eat your ki-ll and STILL have it mounted, right? Grow up--it's a commercial, ffs. A pretty funny one, if you don't have a stick up your behind.

Most "life like dead animals"! What a riot. Reminds me of a Saturday Night Live skit.

Live animals are so much more interesting than dead, stuffed animals. I never understood why someone would shoot a wild animal, gut it, stuff it, put fake eyes in the sockets then stick it on their wall.

Sometimes you prefer a stuffed animal, for instance for a scientific display or exhibit. Live animals require food and things.

Having live animals in the Field museum would be a riot. A real, and very deadly, riot.

Well, if he doesn't do pets, what's the point? It's not like I've got a Rhino in my back yard.

I thought this commercial was hilarious until someone pointed out the Nazi SS death head pin on his hat. Now, it's just creepy.
08:10 AM on 09/16/2011
I thought the same thing...the hat is standard Wehrmacht issue as well, IIRC.

Same here. Surely, he must know what the hat and pin symbolize.

Testa addressed this in his YouTube video comments. His exact words:

"Hi everyone! Thanks for buzz regarding the commercial, just wanted to address the pin on my hat.

I'm part of the California historical group who does WW2 reenactments. I'm part of the US 2nd infantry division and I retrivied the pin in a battle against the 12th SS.

I apologize if this offended anyone, hope you can enjoy the video for what it is."
