Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher Shout At 'Typical Republican Voter' (VIDEO)

Keith Olbermann appeared on Bill Maher's show Friday night, and Maher enlisted his guest for a comedy bit where they yelled at a "typical Republican voter" who was literally encased in a bubble.

The bit emanated from Maher's "New Rules" segment, where he said that it had become impossible to "dialogue" with Republicans because they were disconnected from reality. Maher then said that, to be fair, he should try to talk to a Republican voter. And, what do you know! He had one right there, a "systems analyst from Irvine" named Bob, sitting docilely in a bubble.

"Keith, you should come over here!" Maher said. "I know you have experience talking to typical Republican voters. Surely if we stick to irrefutable facts we can get through to him."

The two then proceeded to shout different things at Bob, such as the fact that taxes are at their lowest level in 50 years, or that Ronald Reagan raised taxes. A peek inside the bubble revealed that Bob was only hearing elevator music, not his two increasingly harried hosts.

Olbermann eventually called Bob an "information-free, bleach-drinking halfwit," before shouting, "wrestling is fake!" to end the show.

This is so true! Facts and reality are completely foreign to the typical Republican voter. All they know is the soundbites they hear on Faux Noise. I'm sure Republicans hated the bit because it hits so close to home. Way to go Bill & Keith and thanks for telling it like it is!

It's good to see Keith again, on Bill Maher's program and the Late Late Show...everywhere but Countdown. My comment wasn't a slam against David Schuster, who in fact is a very good journalist, it was meant as a 'I miss Keith Oldermann' statement. I was concerned that he was having health issues as he had recently. But when I seen him making appearances on late night talk shows I thought it would be a good idea to make an appearance on his own show.
As far as the gang that couldn't shoot straight (Bush & company) it seems everyone knows that they are guilty as hell of a variety of crimes and they've even admitted so on their book tour appearances. The Obama administration, for some ungodly reason, refuses to prosecute these morons. Maybe some foreign government should use the CIA tactic of extraordinary rendition and bring them to justice in a country that doesn't look the other way when it comes to war crimes.

The thing that most vexes our wingnutter­­­­­s (and 'their media') is that Keith truly enjoys pointing out this salient fact: The typical Cluster-Fo­­­­­­­x viewer reads that 'Fair & Balanced' logo that's always popping up, like boils on infected skin, and in their naivete they assume it to be 'truth in advertisin­­­­­­­g'..­.­a­s opposed to the oh-so-iron­­­­­­­ic marketing slogan that it is, in actuality. Foxs forte has long relied on mixing inaccuracy with ill-willed innuendo and packaging it into a witches brew of yellow-rag rhetoric, better suited to cheap tabloids than 'news channels'. What their viewers are hearing there is what they want to hear, nothing more...and so they let Cluster-Fo­­­­­­­x 'do the thinking' for them, 24/7, and just parrot the talking points they receive, without doing any fact-check­­­­­­­ing or further inquiry (which, of course, would require independen­­­­­­­t thought - an idea most definitely discourage­­­­­­­d by Cap'n Murdoch)..­­­­­­­.

what a joke. Both major party followers live in a bubble. Your party's presidency has been a mirror-imagine of the Bush presidency with regard to virtually every substantive policy.

You believe in pre-emptive war and foreign occupation. You believe in bailouts. You believe in running up record budget deficits. You believe in surveillance of Americans, even recording their phone calls and monitoring their e-mails, without a court warrant.

You don't care if Congress even has a say in whether or not we should bomb another country that has not committed an act of aggression against us, you don't care if the Federal Reserve has the power to print money out of thin air and devalue our currency, and the bottom line, all that talk all those years about being against the wars and longing for transparency in government were absolutely hollow.

I have literally confronted people of good heart and good character with facts to challenge their misinformation, helped them find the actual truth to the point they understood things intellectually, only to have them end the conversations with blanket statements like, "I still don't like Obama".

That's the real tragedy of Obama. He won the last election by 10 million votes (that's a major mandate) and he failed to use that mandate to really make the change he campaigned about. The resulting disillusionment on the left and the right has been bad for our country. It's not that the guy doesn't mean well... it's as simple as understanding that compromise is not a goal, it's a result.

RECORD BUDGET DEFICITS THAT SMASH BUSH'S IRRESPONSIBLE RECORD? Bush's largest budget deficit was $562 billion, which was horrific at the time. Obama's FIRST YEAR was over 3 times that much! He borrowed more his first year than all 8 of Bush's years combined!!

I know, I know, now that it's your president doing these things, it doesn't matter, but for those of us that actually value principle, we realize Obama is exactly the same as Bush.

But whatever, I guess I just live in a bubble according to Bill and Keith. What do I know?
