The trancemasters of Daft Punk may be exploring other avenues these days, but this weekend, a previously-unreleased 1994 track came back to haunt them. Scottish label Soma discovered the hypnotic track, called "Drive," recorded over an old tape belonging to one of band member's parents. It was originally sent out with "Rollin' and Scratchin'," but got shelved for a later date and, eventually lost. After standing around in awed silence for awhile, Soma execs clipped the track's wings on BBC Radio 1, and plan to include it in an upcoming compilation album.

Here's the full 7-minute track:

I love Daft Punk, but the first minute and a half or so is just obnoxious.

The "Drive, Ye-ah" bit is a tad annoying by itself... But after ignoring that part for a minute and a half your ears are treated to good-ol' Daft Punk.... Kinda reminiscent of the Vietnam track from the Discovery BETA... Annoying opening, kinda mesmerizing rest of the song...

Just as awful as 'Rollin and Scratchin'; and I've been a huge Daft Punk fan since I first fell in love with the dog and his boom box in '96.

If the headline had read "Robert Johnson track unearthed" i'd be interested.

This IS Robert Johnson to a lot of kids/now grown ups. I may not love it like some, but would not belittle any persons taste in music as long as they have a passion for it and it makes them happy.
I listened to it, and it made me happy, I liked it, also like Robert Johnson, Wire, the Kinks, the Clash, the Stones, the Seeds, Slayer, My Morning jacket, Prince, Neil Young, Toots and the Maytals, Bo Didley,Can, Jimi Hendrix,Beck,Galaxy 500,the Jam, Dolly Parton, NIN and Link Wray..... so maybe I like too many artists, songs and styles of music...... or you don't like enough?

The difference is Robert Johnson recordings are extremely rare and he's been dead for how long? The members of Daft Punk are very much still alive and making music. Your comparison is sort of silly.....
