In a poll of British travelers, New York topped even picturesque Venice, with one in five cruisers saying they'd take New York Harbor over the lagoon of La Serinissima as the jumping off point for a sail reports The Telegraph.
New York City is the world's greatest city -- at least for tourists looking to catch a cruise. Venice did hold on to second place, with 13 percent of the vote, putting it ahead of Barcelona, Rome and Singapore as favored ports.
The Passenger Shipping Association, a trade group, conducted the poll which also found that 1.7 million Britons plan to cruise in the coming year, a slight uptick since last year.
UK travelers told the association “the opportunity to visit a number of destinations in one trip” is the number one factor when choosing a cruise over fly or drive vacations. The “all-inclusive nature of cruises” is another significant benefit passengers say.
But what do American's think? What's the best cruise port destination?
