Slow Motion Video: Tokyo Slo-Mode (VIDEO)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 09/19/11 06:31 PM ET   Updated: 01/06/12 04:55 PM ET

Filmmaker Alex Lee takes (@badassmusketeer) viewers for a slo-mo spin through Tokyo with a creative short set to Flying Lotus featuring Thom Yorke.

In a welcome break from the deluge of time lapse videos -- we do still love you Mr. Time Lapse! –- Lee's shot-from-the-hip cuts of Tokyo's buzzing atmosphere trick the eye into looking at those moments that are sometimes quickly glimpsed but pass in an instant without reflection.

The clip reminds us of Otsuki's playful slow motion video, Running In Cambodia.

For those inspired by the video, jog on over to our Travel Blogs page and check out the post by Melissa Biggs Bradley about why now is a great time to go to Tokyo.

The calm before the storm; eerie music and video effects. Well done.

Nice, maybe because they never had to endure Bush/Cheney and the DC Misfits like we did.

Sloppy and annoying. No amount of money spent on expensive cameras and editing software can ultimately improve the base quality of the art.

I loved the video, and I am a big fan of Flying Lotus. I went to Tokyo this April, and it was the coolest city I've ever been to. It is always a good time to visit Japan. Those who worry about radiation are extremely ignorant. Tokyo is hundreds of kilometers from the power plant, and the background radiation dose is no higher than anywhere else. Food and water is constantly monitored, so there is almost no risk of receiving an elevated radiation dose.

Whoever wrote the short description for this video needs to have his/her head examined. It is a great video, but if avoiding radiation poisoning is important to you, then now is NOT a great time to visit Japan!

Love this. First impression. Everyone is looks healthy. No obesity seen. No dirty tennis shoes and sloppy clothing, no meth freaks, no morbidly obese, no thongs showing, no dirty hair, no stringy dirty hair, no tatooes on someones butt you can see.
Americans should be ashamed of themselves in how they have become such slobs (not all, but the majority and from my observations, most of these types I've seen at Walmart (observing) think they are gonna be millionaires and YOU commmie liberals better keep your hands off my potentially big windfall.... lol Serious, I am so serious. Go to a Walmart and stand in the main aisle observing and you will see what Americans have become.

Exactly! The obese people must be on a different planet where people wear hats of a different kind.

I'm not sure if you know this, but Japan keeps their dregs of society away from public areas where they aren't seen. They have the same problems as the US does, but hides them away because the are ashamed of them.
