Burger King Announces New Dessert Menu With Soft Serve Ice Cream

First Posted: 09/20/11 11:32 AM ET Updated: 11/20/11 05:12 AM ET

After debuting the California Whopper, adding oatmeal and kicking "The King" to the curb, Burger King has made another round of changes, this time focused on dessert. The chain's revamped dessert menu includes:

  • Premium sundaes with topping choices of peach and granola, double brownie, oreos or M&M's
  • Traditional sundaes with topping choices of chocolate fudge, caramel or strawberry
  • Vanilla soft serve cones and cups
  • Strawberry, chocolate or vanilla shakes

The old dessert menu included Dutch Apple Pie and Hershey's Sundae Pie.

The TV advertisements highlight "the creamy texture and refreshing taste of the new soft serve," a strategy that fits with Burger King's new food-centric marketing aimed to appeal to families and women. In other words, instead of a creepy King, there are now gushing soft serve waterfalls.

If I want good soft-serve, I will go to Dairy Queen, thank you very much!
We now have a Sonic in Vista--not too shabby.
As for the now-dethroned Burger King?
Well, just goes to prove Redd Foxx's theory that one minute a ruler sits on his throne, but the next, he's thrown out on his seat!

There should be a liberal imposed moratorium on Burger King, and I don’t like the King dude on those TV commercials, he looks like a Tea Party Member. BLLAAAAAHAHA.

When it comes to ice cream and shakes, neither Burger King or MC-ED's comes out on top. Wendy's is much better.

The best shakes are Arbys.

What's killing you is stuffing your face and sitting in front of the TV all day.

Speak for yourself. I only eat whole foods!!! What's killing people is a very, very extremely poor diet and eating all of that genetically modified poison that's being labeled as food...

How about just cleaning up the Burger King restaurants...they are filthy.

Restaurants comply with local, city, state regulations, and inter-state commerce by the Fed. Where do you live NYC?
05:35 PM on 09/21/2011
I live in South Carolina. A government agency supposedly inspects the restaurants and they put a grade on the front door of the establishment. Believe me, the big "A" grade posted at a restaurant means nothing. Some restaurants here are so dirty, we've walked out before ordering.

I quit eating all fast food 16 months ago.I feel better than I ever did in my life. It's all garbage anyway.

Take the chips out from under your bed, shame.

Garbage, yes, good, yes, more satisfying if not eating it all the time, yes, lol you have to regulate the amount you eat, if done right, then it isnt a problem. Home cooked meals are the best either way, id take a decent home cooked meal over BK or McDonalds anyday, its just more convenient some times to eat out.

I tried one of the soft serve sundaes a few months ago when they were tested in Miami and they were just horrible, plain horrible.

The cup that the sundae is served in is flimsy and uncomfortable to hold. The sundae was a soft serve vanilla that was melting quickly and did not look creamy. There was not enough caramel. Plus the caramel was sour. And unlike McDonalds or other fast food joints, no peanuts.

Compared to McDonalds, it was downright horrible.

Really makes you wonder who's conducting these two year product developments, huh?
