September 22 is the first day of the rest of your life, or at least that's what Facebook would have you believe. Their VP of Global Communications Elliot Schrage recently told Tech Crunch that this year's F8 conference will be "either the most important, or the second most important F8 yet."

Already, Facebook has been rolling out sweeping changes to the look and feel of the site. Last week they added a Subscribe button for following a user's updates without having to friend that user, as well as Smart Lists that auto-sort contacts into lists based on their relationships with you. This week News Feed makeover.

What happens in San Francisco on September 22 could very well change Facebook as you know it, and the rumors are flying. Click through our slideshow to see the latest speculation about out how Facebook change the way you listen to music, watch videos, interact with friends' profiles, andlet your friend's know exactly what it is that you "Want." According to Mashable two sources close to Facebook called the profile redesign "major" and said it will "make Facebook profiles nexuses for consuming content." In English this means they will encourage spending more time on a user's profile. This may mean that more information will be shared there, i.e. what song you're listening, what show you're watching, what news you're reading. All of this may soon be automatically uploaded to your page. According to Mashable's sources the redesign will be a push towards ecommerce, which could have us seeing more buying and selling between friends using Facebook Credits.

Facebook continue to catch attention to keep himself leading..

i dont understand.
you're making the same changes that myspace made plus even more ridiculous things, and look how that turned out. i know us users are using facebook for free and 'have no right to complain' but what's the point of facebook without all it's users? as much as i love and use facebook, eventually i'll stop going on like everyone else. you know, at first i thought it was an absolutely outrageous thought that i would stop using myspace when it changed, i hated the way it looked, and i was addicted to it just like i am facebook, but yet, i haven't been on myspace in probably a year.
if you would at least hear all of us out, and simply change facebook back. you say you're trying to get to be the first trillion-dollar company but i don't see how that could happen if you're just going to crash down. you're already VERY used and people LOVE facebook just the way it is.

Despite Facebook's efforts, it remains only the second most narcissistic waste of time ever created. Twitter, of course, is first.

I hate to argue, but I know more people, who spend more wasted time on their Facebook Fantasia than I have EVER known on twitter.
The thing that amazes me is that they are constantly bitching about FB's changes to their pages, security, and other problems, but defend it like a bulldog when someone suggests they are wasting their lives on "just another website". The damned thing has become their god.

This is great for people who are social savvy but for me, not so much. Like the telephone: I dial, it goes "RING, RING" and someone goes "Hello!". The onboard camera is great but that's about all I would ever want as an add on. Same with all the gee-gaws on FB./

Never been there & never will be. I value my privacy. There's enough to worry about with just regular websites. Why add a 'social disease' to it.

More inane innovation to build future share value and YOU will pay for it.

Some geek please develop a Facebook for those who liked and were comfortable with the old FB. Hard to trust FB anymore, its not free, they are selling our underwear! I loved to keep in touch with my friends from all over the world, that is the purpose for most of us fans. The changes come almost every day. Why fix what ain't broke? I think there are too many geeks showing off their geekdom here. If somebody develops a more secure, user friendly venue FB will be the new My Space as in who gives a s--t? Leave it alone!

If you really want to keep in touch with people, email. If you want a group email, listerve or yahoo groups. People are on FB due to an illogical need to feel connected to people who really don't care about them. If those people did care, they would email you or call you.

How do I get fb to stop sending notifications 10 times a day?

I've already turned off the email thing a dozen times, yet I get between 6-10 game invitations, relative notifications, questions or answers about me or others, and crap like that every day.
11:24 AM on 09/22/2011
You can block those notification by clicking on the arrow button on the right of the notification and selecting Block
03:44 PM on 09/22/2011
you have to do that everytime you play a game post a comment.

You do not have complete comtrol fo your privacy unless you don't have an account, even when you deactivae your account your stuff is still there

I love innovation but there are boundaries here that I think these techies are overstepping. Yes, I realize that Facebook is free to use but I hope I am the one controlling what gets put on FB. I've already been screwed out of keeping everything about me and all of my posts private. Now I have to decide who reads every single post I make and that's getting tiresome. I chose who gets to view me on FB and I already chose who all gets to read my posts ... I shouldn't have to do that again and again and again ...
