The Elizabeth Taylor Collection Heads To Los Angeles

First Posted: 09/21/11 02:48 PM ET   Updated: 11/21/11 05:12 AM ET

While most Angelenos won't be bidding for Elizabeth Taylor's jewels this December (we'll leave that to Becks and Posh), fans will be able to do the next best thing.

Starting tomorrow, Thursday September 22 at 9 a.m. (PST), tickets go on sale for a four-day exhibit in West Hollywood featuring the best of Taylor's gems, threads, and movie memorabilia. The baubles will be showcased at the MOCA Pacific Design Center for an extremely limited time (from October 13 to 16), so the most ardent among us should be waiting with a finger on the mouse tomorrow morning.

The exhibit is part of The Elizabeth Taylor Collection's international tour before the Christie's auction in December. Stops include Dubai, Hong Kong, and London, but West Hollywood is (fittingly) the tour's first stop in the United States. And the best thing about it? The celebration of Taylor's life also honors her legacy; a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

Click here to buy tickets ($20) on Thursday, September 22.

What a disappointment.
Ms. Taylor had one of the world's truly great art collections. It would have been nice to see some of it.
This was a scam to make money.
Don't go see it.

My gosh...what must it be like to have collected jewels of this magnitude. It's sad that she's no longer with us, but Elizabeth Taylor lived a magnificent life. Wow!

Somewhere around 9-10am PST, the Christie's website above should open up for L.A. tickets.

Or this one:

I loved Elizabeth. She was real....and like her or not it she really didn't care. She cared about others as much as she cared about herself. She was here, she had fun and she will be remembered not for her jewelry but for her heart of Gold. Thanks Elizabeth for the memories............

I would LOVE to see that collection. There is something about the excesses and larger than life things in some celebrities that makes going to see them worthwhile especially since money will be going to her charity.

Something that a lot of people never got to see but I was fortunate enough to see was Liberace's museum in Las Vegas. Talk about over the top, but it was fascinating to see all of the jewelry, clothing and cars. Very much worth seeing.

So if I get a ticket I'm headed there.
