'Top Chef Texas' Premiere Date, Full Cast And Guest Stars Revealed

First Posted: 09/21/11 03:56 PM ET Updated: 11/21/11 05:12 AM ET

People have been buzzing about the possibility, and then the reality, of Top Chef Texas, for months. Now, finally, Bravo has released serious details about the ninth season of the chef competition. The show will premiere November 2nd, at 10 pm, just in time for National Deviled Egg Day. And Zagat Buzz is reporting that Top Chef Texas guest stars will include Charlize Theron, Pee-wee Herman, Cat Cora, John Besh, Tim Love and Patti LaBelle, a distinctly motley crew.

But most importantly, Bravo has released all the names and restaurant affiliations of the season's contestants. It's heavy on chefs from New York, LA, Chicago and Seattle. There are even two cooks from one pioneering Windy City eatery, MOTO. (Funny coincidence or an ingenious casting director strategy to drum up drama?) Despite the Texan setting, there are only two chefs from the Lone Star State, and just a handful of contestants from other states in the South.

The Top Chef Texas website has casting videos for all the contestants, but if you don't want to go that in-depth, here's a list of their names, with their restaurant affiliations and home towns.

Texas? Kinda setting the bar low?

Texas actually has quite the food culture. I've had, on average, better meals in Dallas than I've had in NYC.

I guess your tests are pretty pedestrian, if you think Texas glop is good food.

So with so many chef's, are there going to be double eliminations every freaking episode or will it last longer? I have a hard enough time learning the names as it is!

So on Top Chef Texas are the eliminated contestants still sent home or just executed on the spot?

Sheesh...... I hope you don't watch the show so that I never have to read your offensive comments on the updates.

The "Chef as Artist/Creator" fad seems to be ebbing. WIth the financial suffering and pain going on all around us, it is becoming harder to watch "food porn" served up by people that typically work in restaurants that maybe 5% of the population can afford to dine.

Oh please, we are American! We suffer from the delusion that we can all be rich if we just try hard enough. No matter the statistics that show that not that long ago, it took 2 generations to rise up a class notch and now it takes 10. Heck, I will never be able to afford those places but I still enjoy watching the show.

Geez, lighten up. It's a tv show about cooking. Not everything has to be about pain and suffering.

Yeah, you're right. We don't have enough "escapism" and diversion in the USA.

Something is lacking with Just Desserts that the regular Top Chef doesn't have... but it's decent.
