Colbert Catches 'Crazy Liberal' Wall Street Protesters On Tape (VIDEO)

First Posted: 09/22/11 02:56 PM ET Updated: 11/22/11 05:12 AM ET

One thing you can usually count on whenever there's a protest -- whether it's liberal or conservative -- is a heaping serving of wingnuts. Stephen Colbert was counting on this when he sent a camera crew down to the Anonymous-inspired "Occupy Wall Street" protest. But, darn it, if he didn't have a tough time finding someone who didn't have a salient point to make. Fortunately, there was at least one subway performance artist with a pessimistic outlook walking around.

Never mind that last comment. If you can't see it here, you click on "Colbert Nation" even if you are not an "international viewer".

This clip shows up only as a black box, no video. Has it been censored? If so, is there another place where it can be seen?

Stewart and Colbert are on Wall Street's side. Arianna has a bit of an interest in Wall Street, too, I think.

The days of this kind of action making a difference have long since ended. All it will get you is put on the no fly list. Stop wasting your time and get politically active. This isn't doing that. It's just howling at the moon.

I remember the Colbert segments on Stewart. I couldn't believe the places he got into and questions he asked. I miss that. And there is an article on here in reference to this demonstration. People just aren't that active there. You post, and in 2 secs the same person comes on and says I can see it from my office window, it's nothing. I asked them if they were at work, why weren't they working? I think this lies in the same category as I can see Russia from my porch.

Democracy Now reported from the protest

2 people were arrested for drawing on the sidewalk with chalk.
2 people arrested for wearing masks.

There are police guarding the bull on Wall Street. It is surrounded by 6 or 8 police.

There are young and old at the protest.

Squirrel!!!
We're all in the same boat, unfortunately we are busy rowing opposite directions. Colbert has captured the vilification of those trying to protest the effect of money in politics perfectly. I'll be watching the debate tonight with intrest, wouldn't it be great if the Republicans rediscovered their middle class roots?
