Halle Berry Breaks Her Foot In Spain While Shooting 'Cloud Atlas' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 09/22/11 05:10 PM ET Updated: 11/22/11 05:12 AM ET

Don't be surprised if you notice Halle Berry walking with a slight limp in her forthcoming movie, Cloud Atlas.

The Oscar winner broke her foot during a day off from filming, People.com reported. She was wheeled out of her hospital in Spain. But sources say the film's director plans to work around the hobbled star by employing a stunt double and shooting Berry from the waist up.

The film --- which boasts a star-studded cast, including Hugo Weaving, Tom Hanks, and Susan Sarandon --- began principal shooting last month in Scotland. Atlas is based on an award-winning novel by David Mitchell. Berry plays Meronym, one of the few survivors in a post-apocalyptic future.

It's the second film Berry's shot with the Wachowski brothers (of Matrix fame). The other was 2001's Swordfish, which was received mixed reviews but garnered lots of attention for a scene in which Berry went topless.

A Delay Is Not A Denial...sometimes

This is the second time she's done this. I believe she was in another accident while filming a movie some time ago (think it was her arm she broke or something like it). Oh well. Get better.

She was in another accident where she broke her arm. It was on the set of "Gothicka" in 2002 or 2003. Filming was delayed for three weeks while she healed. I believe it was a freak accident like this one was. Some stunts are quite dangerous and can lead to serious injury. It's no wonder stunt people are assigned to perform them. Of course, some actors and actresses prefer to perform their own stunts, despite the danger. It can be really scary to think your favorites could get hurt from them, but it's what they want to do. They may feel it's an incredible rush for them.

Kita dog has been there, done that.

My paw-paw still gives me some troubles.

If it's truly BROKEN, it'll take almost a year to really heal.
Some folks have said 2 yrs.

I feel for the pretty lady.
At least her child is no longer a toddler (glass half full).

Take care HallBerr & try not to walk on it til Doc says it's OK.

If it had been a white actor/actress it would have just been in the news. Why, since she is an actress whom LOTS of people watch, including me, is this article geared towards "Blacks" only? I hope it heals quickly, and that she is back to norm soon. But I wish Black entertainers would remember, lots of other races watch them in movies and on TV because they are talented, not because they are Black.

Think much? How is this article geared towards "Blacks" only?

Because it is in the "black voices" pages.

Because it wasn't just in the normal news of the day. It had to be under Black Voices. Why wasn't it in the general entertainment section? That was pretty much my point. It is about an entertainer .... who cares what race entertainers are? I don't watch or listen to entertainers because of their ethnicity, but rather because I like their products (movies, TV, music, etc.) and think they have talent.

She's a celebrity - celebrities are news because the public is starstruck. And the nasty remarks and innuendos on these posts are uncalled for. You have a perfect right to not like her but to make fun of the way she looks, to minimize a broken foot, or to accuse her of doing it as a publicity stunt are cruel and immature remarks.

Folks have gotten so mean, she BROKE her FOOT, not a nail, who the heck would break their foot for media attention, there are a small hand full of absolute negative immature, probably very unpopular folks... maybe they were bullied and find enjoyment in bullying back someone that has a life. Goodness folks, what if it were you foot... you don't have to send a card, but no need to be nasty when someone else hurts themselves, that is ill intent, a not so nice trait.
12:41 AM on 09/23/2011
I agree with everything you said, conversations17. Many commentators are being very cruel here and have no compassion for anyone or anything. I feel bad for Halle Berry in regards to her injury. It was a freak accident, and accidents happen to everyone, whether they're celebrities or not. I bet these commentators wouldn't have made ugly comments about her if she hadn't been a celebrity. It irritates me when 'ordinary folks' slam celebrities for making the tiniest mistakes or accuse them of being crybabies for revealing a health issue or problem they're face and demand they suck it up while they act like it's okay for them to do both. Celebrities shouldn't be expected to be perfect at all times. They should be allowed to be human because that's what they are. They always have been.

Cruelty and nastiness are quite common on Huff posts, conversations, and I agree with you about the types of people who post those kinds of remarks. Also, they're anonymous on Huff so they can vent their ugliness without fear of retaliation any worse than having their posts deleted by the moderators -- and if they have too many posts deleted they can be barred from Huff altogether! Yay!!!
