Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel Of Saudi Arabia Steps Out (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 09/22/2011 11:54 am   Updated: 11/22/2011 4:12 am

We generally think of our royals as Brits and Spaniards, with maybe a Belgian or a Dutch thrown in.

But Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel hit New York City yesterday, reminding us that there are gorgeous princesses on other continents as well.

Princess Ameerah, a member of the Saudi royal family through her husband, HRH Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal (King Abdullah's nephew), is also the Vice Chairwoman of the Board of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation. She spoke at a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, which invited world leaders to discuss employment, sustainability and women's issues.

We weren't too familiar with Princess Ameerah previously, but we were totally impressed by both her humanitarian interests as well as her chic style (see pics below of her at the Royal Wedding!). For the Clinton Foundation event, the royal wore a blush-colored quilted jacket with her hair in glamorous waves and a pink lip.

Princess Ameerah reminds us just a bit of Kim Kardashian, with the dark locks and made-up look... except for the clothes. Somehow we can't imagine a Saudi princess in a leopard jumpsuit.

See pictures below of the princess in New York, as well as at April's Royal Wedding!

Ok, why is it that women in Saudi Arabia are wearing the full robes, head cover, and face cover and yet she is out and about in designer clothes?

It's because she's special, in an unfair way. I can't imagine having to wear a full BLACK robe in the Saudi heat! That must be miserable.

Yeah, the black robes must really be hot, but I understand the white lightweight cotton robes the guys wear are cooler than other clothing options because it keeps the sun off you.

Yup, unfair.

LOL, she doesn't look like that Kardashian girl. She is too beautiful. It doesn't look like her T&A have been touched by a surgeon either. I don't know HP, you better watch what you post. Kim Kardashian may try and sue the princess now because of your suggestion!

hmm isn't she from the country that just decided women could vote but still could not drive...is that her dad with her? wow the Saudi's are savvy at least when it comes to PR - but this woman ( don't care what she looks like) is not representative of the women in her own country...
hard to take this seriously but it was a fun break from work...but seriously after how the Saudi's still subjugate women and treat foreigners in their country - don't get it.

Armenians are Caucasian. Saudis are Middle Eastern. I would never in a million years mistake Princess Ameerah for an Armenian. Then again, after all of the procedures Kim has undergone, she looks more Eurasian (Turkish, Azeri) than Armenian now anyway (due to the changes in her cheekbones and eye structure).

I have to say that even though Kim K. has a nice face, this Princess look WAY more natural and beautiful. She doesn't look like the type who spends hours getting ready for cameras and things. I think Kim K. should take a lesson from this lady. Kim looks so plastic and fake, even if she has never had work done (or minimal work.) I wish I could look like Ameerah. So pretty!

She's beautiful but I wonder how many other Saudi women are allowed to dress like this. I would guess not many.

It's not what they are allowed to dress like, it's that for some reason the men have decided that they should be covered up like big black ghosts in public. The women (at least the well to do ones) are actually attired quite stylishly under the bedsheets. :)

It's the result of a conservative religious society. But indeed I have no doubt they glam it up in private :P

Over here you have the choice, naturally. I see women wearing the full niqab in New York but over in Saudi it's very conservative and very restricted including both what women are allowed to wear in public and that they have to be attended at all times by a husband or male relative. Women only recently got the right to vote and still don't even have the right to drive a car.
