Anthony Bourdain: Sneak Peek At His New Show 'The Layover' (VIDEO)

We get pretty excited for anything Anthony Bourdain does, so when we saw this sneak peek at his new show "The Layover," our interest was piqued.

For the new series, which premieres November 21 on The Travel Channel, Tony seeks to get down and dirty with a city — "from dive bars to five stars" — in 24 to 48 hours. If the concept sounds familiar, that's because it bears a striking resemblance to most of Samantha Brown's shows. This similarity is not lost on Mr. Bourdain, who posted on his Tumblr:

We are well aware that many of the meals and experiences on No Reservations are, frankly, impossible to duplicate. The upcoming last meal at El Bulli show being a particularly extreme example. The crew and I got drunk one night and said, “hey, let’s make Samantha Brown’s show! Only….different…and good! ” unlike No Rez, you will actually be able to do the stuff covered on the show. And unlike other shows of the genre, you might actually want to.

From the looks of this preview, the show is going to be pretty awesome. But don't just take our word for it, check out the video and let us know what you think.

Quick Poll

I am very jealous. He must travel, like, 50 times a year! He has gone to Singapore over ten times alone!

I would watch anything Anthony Bourdain does. Aside from the fact he is snarktastic he is also drop dead sexy.

Except for Zimmern, I don't think Tony likes anyone on the Travel Channel. Hope they don't have office parties. AWKWARD. I like No Reservations because I can live vicariously. I don't really care about local stuff.

Producers: I have an idea for The Layover: How food saved downtown Philly. Interview and eat with those who were there in the renaissance period of a typical, stagnating American city through the the 60's and 70's in Philly: Georges Perrier of Le Bec Fin, Steve Poses, the Frog/the Commisary, Tom Hunter, now head of the Restaurant School, but then the chef at the restaurant Friday, Saturday, and Sunday who was coupled with young entreprenaurs and culinary wannabees, too naive to know what a big chance they were all taking.. No mention here of cheesesteaks, the Reading Terminal, and the Italian Market, but all of these helped contribute to teaching Philly how much life is better with a wider palette and how good business can be for those taking the leap into the culinary breach.

The 2-option poll is kinda stupid. It limits me to choices that I don't like....kinda like many political elections.

I caught his Disappearing Manhattan eateries show a few weeks back, he featured a German Restaurant named The Heidelberg on E 86th st in NYC. He had a Roast Pork shank (extra crunchy skin). I am going their and and order the dish Schweineshaxe, a true Bavarian specialty, roasted pork shank, with sauerkraut and boiled potato$33.95, next week for dinner . I cannot wait,my mouth juiced up when I saw the roast pork shank and the skin, that's the best part. I wanted to eat it thru the HD tee vee. I salivate thinking about this meal. I must remember to take my "blood pressure"medication before tackling the pork shank. :-)

I wasn't a Bourdain Head until his criticism of Paula Deen, because of that I began watching his show and I'm almost a regular viewer, it's a good show, educational too. This proves there is no such thing as bad publicity. I will check out The Layover, it should be a good show.
