Blk Water: The Dark Side Of Water

First Posted: 09/23/11 05:07 PM ET Updated: 11/23/11 05:12 AM ET

Don't worry, this black water (not Blackwater) isn't actually sludge -- it's just water enhanced with humic and fulvic acid (biodegration of dead organic matter, electrolytes, antioxidants, and so on). Super yum!

Blk water, according to its website, is "an innovation of Nature and Science" (why yes, that is nature with a capital "N"). It has been gaining traction among people who choose to spend money on a product that you can get for free, including an appearance in an Emmy gift bag and an endorsement by many of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. We haven't tasted this soy sauce-esque water, but it does supposedly taste like regular water.

In case you feel like jazzing up your Rosh Hashanah dinner this year, blk water is certified kosher. L'Chaim!

Quick Poll

Would you drink black water?

If it tastes the same, why not?

Can't get past the color.

It always interesting to me that people inherently "Trust" things that have been packaged up and marketed to them and distrust anything given to them for free. Bottled water vs. Tap water is a classic example of this phenom. It is pure ignorance to blindly and happily pay a 900% mark up in price for munincipal water that is stolen from local communities, unregulated and untested then sold in toxic plastic bottles. Look up the documentary TAPPED about the bottled water industry. They are making a killing selling you back your own water in a pretty bottle.

Just bought some today at Nature's Bin in Lakewood OH. Its naturally black, the thing that interested me most was the PH level of the drink, 9+. It tastes like filtered water, with maybe a feint aftertaste of nothing discernable. I will test it with the PH strips and see if it is positive. All in all for the price, not bad.

I went on Amazon, and saw all the bad reviews, like it tasted bad. People are idiots, they are so used to the fluoride and chlorine, they have forgotten what REAL water tastes like.

Can someone please explain WHY I would want to drink "biodegration of dead organic matter, electrolytes, antioxidants, and so on"? Biodegration is the series of processes by which living systems render chemicals less noxious to the environment. It is a noun. For some reason, this sounds like Blk Water contains partially 'digested' organic matter (leaves? grass? wood? dead fish and frogs and whatnot?) along with electrolytes and antioxidants which are partially broken down. Yum! So where's the value in that?

PH level. Cancer and other organisms thrive in acidic environments. In fact, acidic environments in our body act as a breeding ground for conditions etc. Our own tap water is severly acidic.

OK, so I have spent the last 31 years drinking well water, limestone-filtered, which tasted great and which left calcium spots on our glasses. Moved to Richmond last year, and am on city water, which to me tastes just like pool water - I can't drink it. Brita helps a bit, but leaves the water tasting flat, wrong somehow. Sorry, I still can't see buying Blk Water - I'm looking into things I can do here at home with my "pool water" to make it better. Any suggestions? Will you keep buying Blk Water? Are you planning to replace your tap water with it? I see your point, and agree with it, but I'm curious about what you intend for the long term.

I have had the 'pleasure' of trying this stuff...And let me tell you, not only does it LOOK like an oil spill, it tastes like one too. It really tastes like dirty water...I think we still have a bottle in our fridge

I'd pass on this - I like my water clear, plus what color would your pee end up being?? How would you know if you had other health issues?
08:22 PM on 09/24/2011
I don't see why this would be different than any other colored beverage that doesn't turn your pee different colors.
