Jerusalem UFO Likely A Hoax Says Israeli TV Report

First Posted: 09/25/11 10:51 AM ET Updated: 11/23/11 05:12 AM ET

Videos of an alleged UFO in the skies above Jerusalem that took the Internet by storm in January appear to be a hoax, according to an Israeli television station.

The viral videos, filmed from different viewpoints in the city, purportedly depict a glowing, unidentified object that slowly descends from the sky and hovers directly above the Dome of the Rock, an Islamic shrine, at the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem in the early morning of Jan. 28.

In a sudden explosion of light, the object shoots straight up in the sky and several reddish objects appear.

WATCH THREE JERUSALEM UFO VIDEOS:

What first excited UFO believers and investigators around the world was that the UFO appeared to have been videotaped from separate locations near the sacred shrine -- potentially corroborating the sighting.

The first video, shot by Eligael Gadliovich, was followed by a second one reportedly posted on the Internet by teenagers.

"Supposedly, there is no connection between the people that shot those footages," said Israeli Channel 10 investigator Nitay Elboim. "We also had some doubts because it seems there is a rare and authentic documentation [of the UFO], but then ... we began receiving very interesting details."

According to the Channel 10 report, Gadliovich was "not an accidental photographer, but a movie man with a film company."

WATCH THE CHANNEL 10 UFO NEWS REPORT:

Gadliovich, also described as an "ex-actor," played a part in a film with actor Golan Ardiv. According to the news station, Ardiv is the film teacher at the school where the teenagers who posted the second UFO video study.

When asked by Channel 10 if he had any prior connection with Ardiv or if it was a coincidence, Gadliovich offered this cryptic response:

"There is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe in coincidences," he said. "I don't know. The unknown is greater than the known -- that's all I can tell you."

Ardiv reportedly declined knowing the teens -- but Channel 10 remained skeptical, reporting that the footage does not appear to be "authentic."

IN THE FOLLOWING VIDEO, THE 'UFO' SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY THING MOVING:

It's still not known what photographic techniques may have been used to create the UFO videos, but with so many photo and video editing programs available, the clips could have been made any number of ways.

In fact, a big criticism of one of the Jerusalem UFO videos is that it appears to be merely a still photograph onto which a UFO was digitally placed. Upon close inspection, it's apparent that nothing else in the video shows any movement -- traffic, people, street lights, trees -- except for the UFO.

Part of the problem today is that there are so many clever people who know how to manipulate a computer keyboard that it's very easy to fake an incredible UFO video or still photograph. Even Google Earth left people scratching their heads a couple of months ago when what appeared to be a stunning UFO unexpectedly popped up in an image of South Africa.

In that case, photo expert Marc Dantonio revealed to The Huffington Post how his trained eye easily saw evidence that someone had "stitched together an image" using "an iPhone app that lets you put a fake UFO into a photo."

And then there's The Faking Hoaxer, who creates amazing videos of subjects like UFOs and extraterrestrial exploration.

Now, more than ever, seeing is not always believing.

Of course real sightings are jumped on immediately by intel agencies to discredit and keep up the charade...as they have been doing for decades. I guess this memo by an FBI agent to J. Edgar Hoover was somehow a mistake? http://vault.fbi.gov/hottel_guy/Guy%20Hottel%20Part%201%20of%201/view

it was determined long ago that the phenomenon of UFO's represented a threat to national security from people who might panic or who would lose national allegiance if the reality were admitted, and programs were undertaken to thwart anyone of merit who spoke out in support of the reality. The NSA and NRO took an active role in investigating and discouraging outspoken subjects and this matter had security status higher than for nuclear weapons.

Of COURSE Israel will deny this is real; they will never admit that craft can enter and leave their territory at will , despite the many reports from stable and serious residents there who have reported events with UFO's. Labeling something a " hoax " means that some will dismiss it and not see if it really is a hoax or just the victim of official discouragement, a shame because this activity will only increase with time and soon be undeniable.

All it takes is ONE blatant and obvious and documented sighting to dispel the nonsense we have been told for years, and we are seeing video's more and more that cannot be dismissed..unless of course you are one to believe headlines and not research.

I was there in March this year, had a great apartment in the old city, with a fantastic view of the dome. Never saw UFO's. Bummer!! Must work on my timing....

I've seen extensive discussion by people who knew what they were talking about, and the overwhelming consensus was that these videos were (almost) very well done fakes.

The tell is apparently in the changing ratio between the lines that the wall they are standing in front of and the horizon form. But I am honestly not competent enough with this type of analysis to know for sure.

Anyone looking for documented UFO experiences will find better cases.

Aliasing artifacts.

James Randi has it all and debunked it months ago.

The pattern here is that what appear to be genuine videos of a UFO are presented alongside a video that is convincingly a hoax.

It appears to me that a hoaxed video was uploaded in order to distract attention and create confusion about what appear to me to be the real videos. In a media presentation, it is easy to show the fake video and thereby cast doubt on all the videos.

I have a seen an attempted debunking of one of the other videos, but I did not find it convincing.

To me the real question is, why are there so many people so interested in debunking this sighting? Who uploaded the intentionally hoaxed video and who benefits from continued confusion and misinformation on the subject?

Brilliant analysis. The entire focus has been on the only video every figured was a hoaxed version.

Good analysis. That's been standard operating procedure by debunkers and governments for years ... insert a falsity into an otherwise true event and it all falls apart. The fourth video was clearly a fake, but the other 3 were real. Same thing for crop circles ... now everyone thinks that two drunk guys with string an board created every crop circle, which is clearly not the case.

This maybe a curiosity for some, however to those of us that have witnessed these events, it was absolute horror and life changing. While I was walking my dogs one night in 1983, I found myself underneath of a object that was bigger than a football field and would never have seen it if it were not for my dogs looking up and growling. This object never made a sound and defied all known physics. I wish it had never happened, because I have never been the same. Durring this event, I believed myself to be a spectator untill I lit a ciggerette and instantly it was if, both me and my two dogs were hit by a invisable wave of "thought" at the same instant. The "thought" was that of a seething contempt for our presence and a warning to leave. It was as if we didn't belong on our own planet! Without question, I left and walked the dogs home. Since that time, the only words I can describe how I have since felt, is liken to being raped but the internal presence never goes away! I can not speak for the multitudes of encounters, just mine and it remains the most horrible night of my life!

I and my ex also experienced a similar sighting in 1986, a massive triangle with a red light at each tip, so gigantic that I had a gut fear reaction thinking it might set straight down on us and moving at a crawl. I had no " message ' from it but it was proof positive of antigravity technology If it was humanly piloted. People who naysay these things are believers when it happens to them...all the snide remarks and teasing stops, for sure. I believe you.

The UFO phenomena is something most would like an answer to for once and for all. In the midst of that research you have clowns like this muddying the waters. Then there are the conspiracy theories, crop circles, abductions, and so on. We don't know any more than ever did, possibly by design - oops - another consipacy!

Were the pilgrims a "white man phenomena"? I hold contempt for the term "UFO phenomena" as it implies something within nature (like a weather pattern) outside of intelligent action (like an individual performing an action)... Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to correct that individual, frighteningly common use of the term among many others like when ID supporters try to say that it's just a "theory"...

Of course it is a hoax. If it were a real UFO they likely would have blown that rock to kindom come.

I assume you're joking, perhaps vaguely expressing your own distaste for the place because of its religious significance.

An interesting question is, what is underneath the Dome of the Rock. The Temple Mount itself is very ancient and contains the type of large (50 tons or more) blocks of stone that is characteristic of other extremely ancient sites throughout the world, such as temples around the Giza pyramids.

Perhaps these guys are just checking on what the new owners have done in the last few thousand years to redecorate their abandoned buildings.

It probably was an alien craft. I think they're trying to figure out how to keep us contained so's we don't stink up the rest of the place.

It had to be the Mother Wheel which Louis Farakahn said was in orbit above the earth. Why else would it have descened over one of the holiest shrines for Islam; the Dome of the Rock. Don't say I'm wrong or else you will have over a billion Muslims angry with you and willing to do a jihad all over your butt.

Hmm, not a logical conclusion at all given that lights like these, as well as apparent technological crafts, have been seen for many decades and throughout history, without any dramatic or massively lethal consequences.

lol i was joking. its useless to worry or care about these stuff anyways. if there were really aliens, it's not like anything you do now that can change the fact. it's like running around everyday worrying that the sky is gonna fall down.
10:16 AM on 09/26/2011
That was an obvious fake, had religious motives I am sure. I want to know what the Pheonix lights were, that has never been explained. The ones with no explanation usually just dissappear after a few weeks, these are probably not hoaxes. It 's (out of sight out of mind) no explanation needed.

anigma47: You have not paid attention to the details of this matter. There were at least seven different video clips of the event from almost every direction. They are available on You Tube. They include the Jerusalem weather can which spans the city horizon each night and it picked up the picture of the strange light at about 1 AM. There were many eyewitnesses on the ground inlcuding a part of people who were celebrating together as the light hovered over the temple mount.

Actually, I don't think it's a hoax and I don't think any of the other UFO sightings have ever been hoaxes. It was definitely aliens. They really want to visit us but, each time they tried, before they landed they sent out tiny scout video cameras (with sound) disguised as dust particles. When the cameras picked up enough to see how many different religions we have and how intolerant each is of the other, the different languages so that one group of people can't even speak to another, the racism, the bigotry, and the constant wars somewhere on this planet, they knew we were a dangerous species and turned back without landing. You have to give them credit, though, they do keep trying!
