Missoni For Target eBay Prices Hit $31,000

We knew people would go crazy for Missoni for Target, given all of the pre-debut hype around the collection. And we weren't surprised when fashion-hungry customers swarmed Target stores and crashed Target.com in pursuit of the zigzag-print wares.

But when the Missoni products started selling for $31,000 on eBay? That shocked even us.

CNN Money reports that among the Missoni for Target items currently reselling on Craigslist and eBay, a pair of rubber rainboots are currently listed for $31,000. The wellies, now sold out, originally retailed for $34.99.

The seller is Tammy Lyn of Tulsa, a mother who claims the sale (should anyone actually buy the ridiculously priced galoshes actually) will cover an entire year of her daughter's college tuition.

Lyn is not entirely unique -- by the afternoon of the collection's Tuesday debut, there were already over a thousand listings for Missoni for Target items on eBay selling for double the original retail value. The next day Margherita Missoni herself tweeted:

You guys! Very silly to buy #missonifortarget on ebay for 3 times the price!! For that money go out and get M Missoni!

We wonder what she thinks about $31,000 Missoni for Target boots.

Apparently I'm way too far off the grid to "get it." The Target Missoni ads frankly didn't make any sense, seemed to be promoting some very ugly products, and not only wouldn't have attracted me to Target to buy something, but would have driven me far, far away.
Whatever Missoni and Target were trying to do.....didn't "do it" for me!

I was just at both Targets in my area and they have a good bit of the Missoni merchandise still in the store, the said boots in question they had shelves of them...then again i doubt most people around here know what Missoni is.

This is what makes people suck. Greedy people who buy stuff at retail and try to "scalp" it on Ebay. I don't care what the merchandise is, half-wits who buy out Target should be left holding the bag for their greed.

Beanie Babies are over. Get a real job.

This is a non-story because the boots will never sell for that price.

Aww, poor Tammy Lynn. I guess she doesn't realize that she could buy at least several dresses and a few sets of authentic Missoni sheets for her $31K asking price?

I'm not that savvy but I didn't see anything at Target I'd even want to wear, much less think others would pay thousands for....if I do see a white tee, try it on, it doesn't fit well and one washing, and it's in the "rag" drawer....! Pick up a well styled top which looks like a style you've seen in a mag, and look closely, you'll see the seams not straight and not well made. I'd hate to see this sheer flowy thing after it's washed. Hand washed even! Oh well, I'll just stay with well priced disigner stuff in a discount store. Never pay full retail!!

Ignorance stirs my inner demon...Sorry.

There are so many people that overprice items on eBay, and I always wonder if there are really people out there stupid enough to pay more for the item on eBay than they would pay retail. Or there are sellers that set the auction at $.99 but charge shipping prices in the hundreds in order to get around the final value fees eBay charges.

And I'm sorry, but if I pay $31,000 for a pair of rain boots, they better be diamond-encrusted and come with a brand new car.

People are sick.

This is the worst PR hype attempt I have ever seen. Hear that Target? Get a new PR/ad group.

I wouldn't wear the pret a porter Missioni if it was given to me as a gift. The zigzags can make Gisele Bundchen look like Kim Kardashian.

Why would anyone wear that cheap crap anyway?

31K!
Ridiculous!
Buy the real thing. It's cheaper & better made.

31k on ebay?!?! That woman needs to be smacked in the face. No, the person who actually spends 31k should be socked in the face.

So now that her association with Target is pretty much finished, Margherita Missoni is telling everyone to jump ship and buy the real deal! In other words, don't spend your money on that cr_p!! Always out for a buck and looking out for number one. URGH.
11:55 AM on 09/25/2011
U know darn well she didn't mean it like that. She meant that if you can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on one item, you can afford her higher end line.

That zigzag design is ugly but then, who am I? It also has to be matched well at the seams and they aren't. Then it looks sloppy and cheap. What person thinks that's real fashion? And at Target?? No matching zigzags there!!
