You know the saying: they go together like peanut butter and jelly... spaghetti and meatballs... Christian Louboutin and David Lynch. When two big brains share a small screen, you never know exactly what you are going to get. From Terence Koh's work with Lady Gaga to the time Salvador DalĂ-designed dream sequences for Alfred Hitchcock, established but unrelated artists working together can often produce unexpected results. Be they dazzling, mouthwatering or a little awkward, these artist collaborations will make you say OMG.

All the people getting in a twist over their perception that this post is calling Gaga and Kanye great artists are missing the point. It is their collaborators that make these entries noteworthy; Terrence Koh and Marco Bambrilla are established fine artists in the contemporary art world.

So great to see Kalup Linzy getting well deserved coverage.

And in the vein of the fashion/art art entries, I would add the James Jean/Prada collaboration. http://youtu.be/pcHJamFZcGc

Dali and Hitchcock and to some extent Burroughs are true artists - the rest are not. Kayne West ? get real

Bone Thugs rapping over a previous Phil Collins hit does not a collaboration make. Collaboration would be working together to create something new.

Actually, they did collaborate. When they wanted to sample the song, Collins actually was on board to the point of singing the chorus for them and getting together for the video. http://www.11points.com/music/11_weirdest_collaborations_between_rappers_and_non-rappers_ever

Lady Gag and Kanye West? Great artists?

Seriously? I guess our national taste in art has suffered greatly through the past decades.

Appreciation of art is subjective.

Yes. But in this case, it's fact.

Odd, only about three great artists in this entire list.

"Great artist" and you have a pic of that guy who talked trash at the awards?

Really? This trashy guy and you call him an artist? Nothing but a big conformist baby - trying to be artsy. Please, shut the front door with this guy.

Wait, wait? Are you seriously saying that not only isn't Kanye West a great artist, but he isn't an artist at all? LAUGHABLE.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying.

Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Murakami, I think that you are using the term "great artists" rather loosely.

Nothing quite up to the level of Mozart & da Ponte.

Calling Kanye West a "great artist" is no different than calling John Boehner a "great statesman."

Yes - both have risen to prominent positions in their respective fields - and both have constituencies.

But "great?"

Don't make me laugh...

I doubt if you know anything about Kanye West, or modern music generally. Ridiculous comment.

I know plenty about "modern" music. And Kanye isn't worth mentioning in the same breath as that phrase.

If Kanye West is the apex of modern music, we're in big trouble. The term artist does not apply to him. Entertainer, maybe.

Kanye West and Lady Gaga are rated higher than Salvador Dali/Hitchcock and Burroughs/Sonic Youth - I'll admit there wasn't much to the Burroughs clip... but to hear him read the lord's prayer - beautifully ironic, especially in that raspy wraith voice ... something I suppose most people don't quite understand.

There's already one Dali collaboration on here, but the short animation film "Destino" is a stunningly beautiful collaboration between Dali and Walt Disney. Not to be missed.
