Weekend Agenda: Improv Shakespeare, Skylab, Cheap Rapids Tickets
The Denver Beer Fest doesn’t have the exclusive on fun this weekend. From vintage carnivals to Shakespearean improv to interplanetary dance parties, we have you covered.
Makeshift Shakespeare: Thou hast never seen the Bard performed quite like this. Friday’s your last opportunity to catch this improv group brings the classic Elizabethan material to a new -- and rather bizarre -- level.
Fri., Sept. 23 at 10:15pm; $10
Bovine Metropolis Theater , 1527 Champa St.; 303-758-4722
The Dwarves: Pop punk, death metal, surf… whatever you think you’re going to get with The Dwarves you will -- plus a whole lot more. Leave your inhibitions at home.
Fri., Sept. 23 at 9pm; $10 - $20
Bluebird Theater, 3317 E. Colfax Ave.; 303-377-1666
Public Lands Day: Unplug and go play Frisbee under a tree as all national public spaces will offer free admission Saturday.
Sat., Sep. 24, all day; free
Skylab: It’s an interplanetary house party with dance music that will make the most hostile alien intruders shake their thang. 16+ allowed in, 21+ allowed at the bar.
Sat., Sept. 24, door open at 7pm; $35+
Denver Coliseum, 4600 Humboldt St.; 720-865-2474
Rapids vs. Earthquakes: Cheer on the Rapids as they create a temblor of their own on the field against San Jose. The family pack (tix, meals, sodas) is available for this match.
Sat., Sept. 24 at 7pm;
Dick's Sporting Goods Park, 6000 Victory Way, Commerce City
Frills & Follies: Dress in your best “Depression-era carnival garb” for this vintage carnival at Bender’s. No idea what that means, either? Then wear whatever’s best for music, games, burlesque and fortune-telling.
Sat., Sept. 24 at 7pm; $10
Bender’s Tavern, 314 E. 13th Ave.
Moving Planet: Pump your tires and join this bike ride from Boulder to Denver in support of the “Power Past Fossil Fuels” message. If you need to shorten your trip, join at designated spots throughout the journey. Stay for the Green Fair with music, vendors and speakers.
Sat., Sept. 24, 8am - 7pm
Boulder Municipal Building (corner of Broadway/Canyon) to Denver State Capitol (west steps)
Shopping Extravaganza: Pamper yourself at the Outlets at Castle Rock, when you’ll not only have access to exclusive discounts, but you’ll also enjoy a catered lunch, dessert bar and goodie bag. Proceeds of the ticket sale will go to a charity of your choice.
Sat., Sept. 24 at 9am; $25
Outlets at Castle Rock, 5050 Factory Shops Blvd., Castle Rock; 303-688-2800
Blue October: Hate me today but love me this weekend for telling you about Blue October’s sure-to-rock show Sunday night at Ogden.

Ogden, 935 E. Colfax Ave., 303-832-1874
