Getting one's macaroni and cheese fix in Chicago's Loop just got a little easier.

The ever-popular cheesy-starches-on-wheels Southern Mac & Cheese Truck opened up their new storefront location in downtown Chicago Thursday.

The restaurant, located at 60 E. Lake St., will open everyday at 10:30 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on weekends. The Southern Mac & Cheese Store's menu, as GrubStreet reports, offers twelve different macaroni and cheese varieties -- six "meaty" and six vegetable-based -- in addition to a grilled mac and cheese sandwich, a couple of salads and some desserts courtesy of Bake Chicago.

The store's co-owner Cary Taylor explained to Crain's Chicago Business that the new store will allow their truck operation, which began in February, to expand to other neighborhoods.

"We bring the truck to the Loop a lot," Taylor told Crain's. "We knew that we were going to be a lunchtime business, and there's obviously no better place for lunchtime foot traffic than here."

Besides the new store, of course, mac-and-cheese-loving Chicagoans can still get their hands on the dish from The Southern's original Wicker Park restaurant, located at 1840 W. North Ave., or from its mobile counterpart, the varying location of which can be tracked on their website.
