Kevin Walter Touchdown: Texans Receiver Scores On Freak Play Against Saints (VIDEO)

Texans Receiver Scores Wild TD On Freak Play

When an NFL football game explodes into a back-and-forth shootout, bizarre plays are bound to happen as the scores rise. That was certainly the case in the fourth quarter of the New Orleans Saints' thrilling comeback win against the Houston Texans.

The Texans shocked the Superdome crowd late in the fourth quarter when a Matt Schaub pass was deflected and happened to fall in the hands of receiver Kevin Walter. The pass was intended for tight end Joel Dreessen, but Saints linebacker Jonathan Casillas bobbled the interception and then, somehow in the ensuing scrum, the ball was slung back and bounced off another Saints defender. Walter, who looked just as surprised as any Saints fan in the stands, was in the right place at the right time and quickly made a one-handed catch. Once he had the ball, the nine-year veteran looked up and found a wide open lane to the end zone. He easily scored, giving Houston a late 33-32 lead.

Unfortunately for the Texans, Walter's circus touchdown would ultimately be regarded as just a footnote in the contest. Not to be outdone, Drew Brees rallied the Saints' offense to an eight-play, 70-yard drive for the go-ahead score on the next possession.
