Arthur Gerald Jones, Man Who Vanished From Chicago 32 Years Ago, Guilty In ID Theft Case

LAS VEGAS -- A man who disappeared from the Chicago area more than 32 years ago and was living in Las Vegas has pleaded guilty to a felony identity fraud charge.

A District Court hearing master in Clark County, Nev., told Arthur Gerald Jones on Monday that he could face prison time when he's sentenced Jan. 31.

Jones' lawyer, Stephen Stein, says the 73-year-old deserves probation and will make restitution to the Social Security Administration. He also intends to repay an Arizona man whose name Jones used during 10 years working at a casino.

Jones was declared legally dead 25 years ago after leaving a wife and three children in Highland Park, Ill.

Jones was arrested July 19, after he was accused of providing false information to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.

Will he also be making restitution to his abandoned wife and children? And any and all who helped them make ends meet while he was busy being a runaway and dodging responsibilities he took on knowingly and willingly? How will he make restitution to them and any other members of his family for the pain and heartache he deliberately caused? The man's a selfish jerk and deserves no pity or leeway, he had plenty of that for 25 years already...
