Leelee Sobieski At The Metropolitan Opera House (PHOTOS)

Leelee Sobieski tends to stick with a dark, edgier style when she makes the occasional party appearance.

So her look for last night's opening night performance of "Anna Bolena" at The Metropolitan Opera House in New York was a bit of a surprise.

The actress wore a bright, colorful Mary Katrantzou dress (which reminded us a bit of the scaly print dresses from Alexander McQueen's Plato's Atlantis collection).

Unfortunately, Leelee paired the dress with clunky black booties, as well as a pompadour 'do and those piercing blue eyes. What could have been a fun, light look was it was a bit... er, intense.

She'd look pretty good if it weren't for the non-smiling uptight stare! With that scowl on, I agree that she very much is reminiscent of a sci-fi bad guy...

I definitely wasn't a fan of the shoes. But from the ankles up I love this outfit! The makeup was perfect, and the hair was divine.

It would be hard for Ms. Sobieski to not look great. She'd look beautiful in a burlap sack and lineman's boots.
The outfit is ok. Not her best look but it is colorful and fun.
She plucks her eyebrows a little more than I'd like though.
