Michelle Williams is not only portraying the most legendary screen actress of all time, she's doing her justice.

Now, a week before "My Week With Marilyn" makes its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, Williams has already won the title of Best Actress.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival will honor the two-time Academy Award nominee with its Hollywood Actress Award.

Carlos de Abreu, the founder and executive director of the event said, "It is a privilege to honor Michelle for her excellent talent and remarkable career."

Williams joins the ranks of other major movie stars - from Angelina Jolie to Annette Bening to Marion Cotillard - who were previously awarded the same honor.

Can anyone say oracle?

It's a good likeness, but hard to recreate the true beauty of Marilyn Monroe.

At first the casting for this movie baffled me. But comparing Michelle Williams to Naomi Watts i'm pleasantly surprised.

It seems like Entertainment is so desperate at times to get a story out, to win popularity to appear to attempt to reach new pinnacles of story telling; that they are willing to sacrifice authenticity for cash/box office draw. NOW this is not to denigrate Ms. Williams film achievements and talent in the least.

It is to say that some iconoclastic figures can never be reproduced no matter how badly we miss their unique mystique and on screen presence. I'd prefer to cling to Monroe's history
in film as the real thing rather than a half attempt at imitation.

Of course I stated I respect Ms. Williams. But I love, honor and respect Ms. Monroe more. I remain intrigued and captivated by her enduring presence far more.

I regard your sentiment as open minded and considerate.

I really like Michelle Williams but I feel like 99% of the roles she plays are the exact same. She's always a tortured, mopey, destructive woman.

I only follow a handful of Hollywood actors, Michelle is top of my list. She truly is an amazing talent.

Who ever told Michelle Williams that she looks like Marilyn Monroe needs to have their eyes examined. Maybe Michelle's got Marilyn's voice and movements down better than she does Marilyn's look. We'll see...

I was thinking the same thing, no resemblance at all. Couldn't they find someone talented with looks closer to Marilyn's, or at least do the makeup better and tone down the big lips. Michelle is pretty but no beauty like Marilyn was. Like you said, we'll see how she does.

My goodness. She looks close enough. Would you prefer she have her face completely reconstructed by a plastic surgeon so she can more closely resemble Marilyn?
