Obama 'Absolutely Certain' There Will Be A Latino Candidate In His Lifetime

Obama Latino Candidate

First Posted: 09/28/11 02:29 PM ET Updated: 11/28/11 05:12 AM ET

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama said on Wednesday he is "absolutely certain" there will be a competitive Latino candidate for president in his lifetime, adding that the growing number of Latino voters will push for more representation in politics.

"Just look at the demographics," he said at a roundtable with Latino news outlets, including HuffPost Latino Voices. He added that the Latino population is "growing faster than any other population. … With numbers comes political power."

The Census Bureau estimates the Latino population will grow by more than 10 million in the next decade, and reach 102.6 million by 2050. Latinos will make up an estimated 24.4 percent of the total United States population by 2050, Bureau estimates show.

There are a few possible future candidates already in the political arena, including Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida.

No Latino has ever made it to the White House, although at least one has entered the race. Bill Richardson, a former New Mexico governor, made a bid for the White House in 2008.

Had he won, he would have been the first Latino president of the United States.

"I wouldn't run as a Hispanic candidate. I would run as an American, proud to be Hispanic," Richardson said on ABC's "This Week" in 2007. "I wouldn't just be focusing on Hispanic issues or trying to get the Hispanic vote."

I agree with him, I think there WILL be one in his lifetime and I also think there will be a woman. Hell, maybe a Latino woman, who knows.

President Obama will pander to any group that is disaffected in order to obtain votes. His agenda is to divide Amerika along racial lines - minorities Vs the economically ruling White People. He sold us a platform of Hope and Change. We have had tremendous Change - and we are without much Hope in his hands today.
The cheap easy sell is to go to a negative stance - in the confusion of dispair the politically / economically ignorant will cling to his offer of HOPE. Obama has no control over the forces pushing the USA around today. His foe is a failing world economy and a labor pool in China that works for $1.00 to $3.00 a day. Neither of these are within his control. Prepare your home and your family for even more disorder and plan for a 4 year struggle to keep alive - and stop the banks from owning every property in the USA with any mortgage on it. When the music stops again even those with great $$ equity in their property will have lost title. If you cannot eat you do not pay a mortgage - no matter how small and therein lies the power of the Banks to seize all.

SO basically the MIC and Oligarchy will cycle through the roster of minorities to prop up in front of the gullible American people to be sold as "change"..
so for the next century they should get through all ethnic groups and this way Americans will never see an actual political system that is not core corrupted by the Money Cult.

I am hoping for a woman.

A Democrat woman.

After all women are the majority.

Well Hillary was kicked to the curb by her own. A woman would be great to see in office. After all women rulers have been quite succesful in other countries

I can't, for the life of me, understand why we'd want to see an illegal and legal population of Mexicans and Latin Americans reach 102 millions. Do any of you unpatriotic liberals know what that means for America?

You think that will be some, Kumbaya moment, to celebrate? I have to wonder if actual White/Black Americans are responding on this topic or is it actually Mexicans themselves, pretending to speak as White Americans. I leaning to the latter.

Overpopulation is the death of a country. Contrast two countries and see how they dealt with overpopulation. One, China. And two, Mexico.

China imposed a mandatory limit to two children per family and doing great as a economic force in the world. Mexico too dumb and incapable to control their own country and now, pushing their children off on us. Irresponsible!

Look at California. That what a mess will look like with overpopulation without "brains" to develops into an economy force. Yet, Liberal clowns like Obama thinks they people are the future of America. Wow, just wow. Smh.

No. With numbers of voters comes political power. Alas.

As I read the posts, both left and right, I end up pondering one question. Why do you want Obama to win, whether you are left or right. If he does it appears he will be inept for four more years based on the congress not allowing anything he wants to pass. Executive orders will only last during his term and most orders will affect who wins seats in congress and the senate. Additionally, they can be reversed with the change in parties. History has shown, no party will dominate for any length of time. It's a no win situation for the American people. Maybe a Latino candidate wouldn't be so bad...I think a candidate without a label is our best option...

The difference now is that, despite being incapable of taking full control of Congress, the Tea Party types are willing to cause damage to the entire country unless they get their way. In the past, political minorities played a role by trying to influence and mold legislation they could not control. Now, however, we have legislation by extortion; unless the GOTP gets precisely what it wants, we get threats of debt default and government shutdowns. And you say Obama appears inept because he won't let them damage America to prove a political point?
10:32 PM on 09/29/2011
So 9% unemployment isn't damage enough. That isn't even the real number... As for the Tea Party, it is disingenuous to blame them for the country's ills. The government as a whole is inept, from POTUS to Senate and Congress. BO had every opportunity to pass whatever he wanted prior to the 2010 elections. He focused on healthcare as the country hemmoraged jobs. He wasn't willing to expend any political capital with a bigger stimulus if he thought it was the solution. (which I was against) Spending and taxing appears to be his only solution. I don't want any taxes raised on anyone, not that I don't believe that the "rich" could or should pay more, I struggle with the amount of waste the government creates. I don't want the government picking what they think are the winners and losers. Until the waste is corralled, it is hard to support his ideas. If he streamlines the government and more is needed, have at it. I liken it to having a house remodeled and the contractor is constantly giving away supplies, but expecting me to pay more because I can afford it. I digress. My original point was, just like GB, BO is polarizing and nothing will be done as long as he is in office... We are running out of time.

We need a American President, one that served in the military.I realize Clinton didn't serve, so I am not discriminating against any race. What kind of example does it leave our children to elect men that have not served in the military and then they send our children over sea's to fight in wars ,when they themselves did not. We need to get back to American born for President too. Again, its time to take back our America and make it what it was meant to be. No illegals. Take care of the American people that need it before offering billions to other countrys to help them. Maybe the homeless will be able to afford homes because they have jobs, and our children won't go hungry and they will have medical care. I am tired of lining the pockets of those people in office that don't need it, yet they feel they can spend our hard earned tax dollars and make laws.

He is absolutely correct in making that statement. Due to the demographic shifts that are occuring right now in this country, we will see more people of color running for public office. Obama has taken alot of slings and arrows because he is the first non-white President of the United States. He is taking them now so that the next non-white President will not have to.

I hope you are right about that, but I suspect that the haters will not be detured because it is the second non-white president. I think they only see color and don't care about anything else.

If CAIN were the first to run he'd never have been elected because of being the same party of Bush - we'd all realize it wasn't his color, we'd realize it was his politics. Too bad the Dems don't use THEIR minds the same way when it comes to Obama. It's sad in a way.
