Sara Gilbert teared up about her break-up with her partner Allison Adler on "The Talk" on Friday.
Gilbert, who created the CBS daytime show, split from Adler after ten years in August. Co-host Julie Chen prompted Gilbert's teary admission on Friday when she asked, "Is marriage all it's cracked out to be?"
After the rest of the roundtable weighed in, Gilbert said, “I feel like I don’t know if marriage is all it’s cracked up to be. I’ve never been married, but I was in a long relationship… It's emotional for me, because we’re not together.”
Her eyes welled up with tears and her voice wavered as she continued, “I wouldn’t trade that time, it’s such a special time in my life. But then you see people in their 70s and you go like how do people do it? How do they make it last? And I would like to think that I can.”
She went on to mention that she and Adler have two "beautiful children" -- son Levi and daughter Sawyer, over whom they share custody -- and "a lot of love for each other."
Gilbert is executive producer of "The Talk," which approaches its one-year anniversary in October. The show has been shaking things up in recent months, bringing Kris Jenner and Sheryl Underwood onboard and axing Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete.
