It seemed like things took a turn for the worse on Friday during a meeting between the NBA brass and the players. According to multiple reports from ESPN, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade flipped out at commissioner David Stern.

According to Chris Broussard, the meeting became "incredibly heated," especially when Wade made "pointed remarks" at Stern.

Fellow ESPN reporter Ric Bucher tweeted that a source informed him that Stern had been pointing his finger at the players while speaking. That is apparently when Wade shouted, "You're not pointing your finger at me. I'm not your child."

Broussard reported that Wade and the other superstars "nearly stormed out of the hotel." Union chief Billy Hunter was said to have calmed the players down. Not surprisingly, Broussard tweeted that the owners were "stunned" by the players' resolve.

Yahoo! Sports reporters Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears confirmed the confrontation and wrote that Wade had "referred to Stern as 'David' twice during the exchange."

To make matters worse, Wade, LeBron James and Chris Paul reportedly told the union that they're actually willing to sit out a year instead of making any more sacrifices.

Speaking to NBC's Darren Rovell on Saturday morning, Wade revealed that he hasn't felt that the owners have shown they're willing to meet the players half way during any of the many meetings between the sides.

"We may lose a year," he said.

Great, just great...

Stern has always looked at others like he's offended just being in their presence, very large ego and i am willing to wager he filled up his depends after that confrontation.

David tern finds out what it's like to face a man when he doesn't have the threat of fine or suspension to protect him.

I give Wade credit. They're all adults. Stern shouldn't be pointing his finger at them and treating them like children.

after owning four season tickets to the NBA for decades, like many others i dropped them several years ago. grew tired of the massive egos, crappy play, bad refereeing, and on and on. so my HuffPuff comment here is "whatever"

totally disagree....the play in NBA is fantastic on both ends of the court....people who yearn for the old days, dont stop to consider that their was absolutely zero defense played in the old days, which is why every score line was well above 100

as far as the officiating, you are 100% correct

www.mediatakeout.com reported that David Stern poked Wade in the chest repeatedly, but I have not seen any other reports to back that up. These negotiations are getting really heated.

Fans go to watch the players, not Stern or the owners. It's the players who risk lifetime injuries, not the owners. I'm proud of the players for standing their ground.

I hope the players do not back down. They can all play in Europe and the Middle East and make decent millions. Let the Owners hold the empty buckets. If they think they can recruit fill-ins, no one will come to the arenas. Let Directv, ESPN, Al-Jazeera get contracts to send the games by satellite.

Mr. Stern your no on a plantation, show the players some respect.

This could be really good for hockey! But of course the real losers would be all the downstream folks...vendors, ad sales people, parking attendants, bars and restaurants, etc... The millionaires can afford to sit out a year, the small fry can't.
