Turkey Jewelry Shop Robbery
A robber found himself fleeing the scene after a 12-year-old thwarted a would-be jewelry heist.

Don't underestimate the little guy.

In this incredible viral video, surveillance footage shows a masked robber entering a Turkish jewelry shop and pulling out a gun, only to have his heist thwarted by a young boy.

Concealed by a surgical mask and sunglasses, the criminal instructs shop owner Mehmet Karagoz to fill a bag with goods, but just as he lets his guard down, Karagoz's 12-year-old son jumps the robber, neutralizing and disorienting him so that he flees the scene, according to a translated version of the Turkish Posta.

The jewelry shop is located in Istanbul's Bagcilar district, a suburban region known for its light engineering, textile, and printing industries.

The security tape of the June 24 incident is just beginning to spread across the Web.

Police later identified the suspect as Mustafa S. and arrested him, according to the YouTube description.

fantastic block by that kid. apparently he had some skills.

Well, I don't want to be a party pooper, but the kid didn't exactly step in to save the day. The kid wasn't doing anything but watching until the robber first turned towards the kid to manhandle him. Being physically approached like that the kid instinctively moved to defend himself. It is admirable that the kid did that rather than cower. But this story is being presented as tho the kid stepped in, taking matters into his own hands. That's not quite what happened here.

Surprise was on the boys side, the guy did not expect a fight and then the father was rushing him... Change of jobs is in his future, holding up lemonade stands.

Some are saying this kid put his life on the line for others and that makes him a hero while others are saying someone has to step up or we will be walked on. Hopefully since you posted last you have done a lot of logical thinking now to realize this is a kid. How many times do police, experts in this profession, have to tell you it is stupid and dangerous to take this kind of matter in your own hands because most of the time people are killed due to this stupidity. This kid was lucky and everyone around him was lucky. The hot shots on here that think they are big and bad are also the stupid ignorant ones that could someday you get killed. Think before you act for you may not have another chance. Kids should not be taking things in their own hands. If you would like your child to do what this child did then please surrender your child to the authorities for you are far from a fit parent and would endanger your child's life to prove you are big and bad.

Just wondering how much of an expert you are on Turkish law enforcement staffing levels. What works in the US doesn't always apply elsewhere. Not sure when the last time you walked the streets of Istanbul, but times that I have been there, I am not so sure I would have reacted any differently than this boy did to save his fathers life.
The boy acted on instinct for a reason. That seems logical in the nanoseconds this boy had for fight or flight reaction.
If we were to place you in the identical situation with your father, or husband, or son having a gun waved at them by an irrational thug, in Istanbul, would you be a bystander or try and do something to save your family members life? Fight or Flight.
I respect your opinion, but rather harsh to call others unfit and an endangerment, when you yourself may be stupid and ignorant to facts of life in Istanbul, Turkey.
I wish you well.

I don't think this kid thought about what he was doing. His reaction was automatic, instinctual. It caught the robber off guard. But I agree, it is not smart to wrestle with a guy who is armed unless you are sure you can overpower him. In this case the robber wimped out and ran. It could have turned out really bad.

I bet the robber had a purple bruise..LOL

The young and the foolish(:

this kid is a hero. disregarding his own life, he saw 'gun' and thought 'death'. he saved lives! the robber, if not thwarted by this child, may have gone on to another victim, and another...who's to say people wouldn't get killed?

He's a HERO. that's the definition, right? Putting your life on the line for others. hes a HEROx1000

So which hand will he give to the chopping block???

Fitting punishment for a thief that might have shot a child..

Age is immaterial, bravery is an inborn instinct that some have and others do not and perhaps can be stifled by overprotective parents and elders. It is wonderful that this child's father did not stifle his son's and is probably very proud of him. Let our parayers be - let my children be brave among other things!

My God... That kid is lucky that guy did not pull the trigger. That gun made contact with the 12 year old's stomach.. Any other gunman would have shot him... Luckily he survived. The human body reacts on instinct any time it feels threatened.. this explains his sudden moves. Glad he made it out alive though.

That boy is lucky that the thief did not pull the trigger. For a second my heart stopped in fear for him. I am glad he and his father are alive. What a story for him to tell and it would not be full of of bravado but of bravery!
