PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals are teaming up to raise money for the families of the Russian hockey players killed in a plane crash last month.

The teams will wear commemorative patches honoring the 28 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl players who died when their plane went down in western Russia when the rivals meet on Oct. 13 at the Consol Energy Center.

The players will autograph the game-worn jerseys, which will be sold at auction through nhl.com.

Russian players Evgeni Malkin of the Penguins and Alexander Ovechkin of the Capitals will participate in a ceremonial opening faceoff.

Remembrance bracelets will be sold to benefit the families. The Capitals will sell the bracelets on Oct. 8, and the Penguins will sell them on Oct. 13.
