Olivia Wilde Chooses Red Lace For Tod's Party (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 10/04/2011 9:59 am Updated: 12/04/2011 4:12 am

We often get a bit bummed out by Olivia Wilde's outfit choices, lamenting the fact that large swaths of material or excessively dark, depressing colors obscure the actress' gorgeous figure and natural beauty.

But we should really stop being surprised and just admit: Wilde likes wearing granny styles. Not excessively granny, à la Elle Fanning, but old-style lace, long sleeves, long skirts and other sorts of body-covering fashions. That's simply the reality.

Wilde proved this yet again last night in Paris, as she joined the fashion elite at a party for Tod's. While checking out the luxe leather bags, Wilde wore a red lace-print dress with three-quarter length sleeves and an unusual mid-calf length.

She paired the outfit with black strappy, flower-embellished shoes by Roger Vivier, a black Tod's clutch and jewelry by Wilfredo Rosado.

Say what you will, but at least this 27-year-old star's style is consistent. What do you think of Wilde's covered-up look?

Quick Poll

Olivia Wilde's red ensemble:

YAY! Simply elegant.

NAY. Totally unflattering.

Maybe she's still getting over her husband and just needs to hide in some big clothes for a while?

My 90 year old grandmother wouldn't even wear that frumpy curtain.

Looks like she pulled the drapes off the window of a Motel 6, cut two armholes out, and threw it over her head. Yucky.

If she was good looking I could maybe see the reason for this artical..

If you could spell, maybe I could see a reason for your response. This is how you spell article, not artical. Before you criticize someone else, make sure you're on point.

Lose the sleeves and hem above the knee. Well just up the hemline it wouldn't be so bad. Its like she's wearing my grandmothers dressing gown...

I liked the dress, the shoes did not work with it for me, I would have done a higher heel because of the length of the dress. She does have her own style and more power to her.

I thought the dress was nice. I guess each to own's opinion.
