CNN announced a rebranded tagline for their 2012 campaign coverage on Wednesday. Known for slogans such as, "The Best Political Team on Television" and "CNN = Politics," the network will now use specific election 2012 materials to accompany their coverage of the presidential race.

Wolf Blitzer premiered the new graphic and slogan that will read "CNN Politics America's Choice 2012," and told viewers that he has not decided between saying, "election two thousand twelve" or, "election twenty twelve" while reporting. Though the election is still a year away, cable networks received significant interest from advertisers when selling their election 2012 packages, which included CNN and MSNBC securing sponsorship deals.

"CNN's goal is to leverage our extraordinary resources and offer our viewers the most unbiased, comprehensive coverage of the most important choice the American voter will make for the next four years. CNN's 'America's Choice 2012' branding reflects our commitment to helping American voters make that choice," Washington Bureau Chief Sam Feist said.

The new tagline could also help Americans make choices in other areas of their lives, besides politics. "America's Choice" is a popular generic food brand available in major grocery stores like the A&P.

Unless they improve the caliber of their "talent", I don't think a "new graphic and slogan" is going to help. Hacks are hacks no matter how prettily you package them.

Sorry CNN, it's not the packaging, it's the contents.

CNN just needs to stop reading twitter messages from any random person and other random statements by random people... this is not news reporting... this is called dictating some random person said out of 300 million people!

Just report on news... real news..... Just because Kennedy's son's daughter's child died of a car accident does not mean it you have to report it... That reporting is done by E! Learn from Fareed Zkaharia, or Charlie Rose, or a few other individuals....

It's twenty-twelve, not two-thousand-and-twelve. Nobody called the year 1999 "one-thousand-nine-hundred-and-ninety-nine". It was just called nineteen-ninety-nine. None of this "thousand" business. That's not the way you say years, except for the decade from 2000 to 2009. But that exception to the rule ended last year, in twenty-ten, and this year of twenty-eleven, and next year in twenty-twelve, we ought to be back to the usual way of naming years, that we did in the 1900s, 1800s, and so on. A hundred years from now, in the year 2111, do you want people calling the year "two-thousand-one-hundred-and-eleven" or the much more succinct "twenty-one-eleven"? We'd better get back to the usual, succinct style of naming years, now that the 2000-2009 period is over ("twenty-oh-nine" doesn't sound quite as good as "two-thousand-nine", but "twenty-ten" is definitely better than "two-thousand-and-ten").

Unfortunately, the only changes you will see will be cosmetic. There will be flashier graphics, more sound effects and shinier desks. There will not, however, be real in-depth analysis or tough questions put to the candidates. The CNN talking heads will still discuss the very same, tired horse race tripe without truly informing the public about their presidential choices. When the news networks refuse to acknowledge that a candidate like Michele Bachmann is simply unfit for office, it really doesn't matter if there are more bells and whistles on the set. It just becomes a form of entertainment.

CNN is a Koch-Tea-Party mouthpiece. It has no journalistic integrity. Put on a CNN-OccupyWallStreet GOP debate and we can revisit the issue.
