Evan Rachel Wood Talks Sex, Politics And Bisexuality

First Posted: 10/05/11 04:59 PM ET   Updated: 12/05/11 05:12 AM ET

Evan Rachel Wood plays a young intern working on a presidential campaign in the new political thriller, "Ides of March" due out this Friday.

To put it politely, let's just say her character gets around. In a new interview with GQ, the magazine didn't put it so politely, offering that on paper her character reads like a "skank" for sleeping with multiple men in a matter of weeks, yet on-screen she doesn't come off that way.

"I don't think she's actually ashamed of what she did. It's strange: The one thing that could take down any politician is sleeping with the intern. But it has nothing to do with be a good politician," she told the magazine, adding that "People need to accept the fact their leaders aren't perfect. No one is."

Since ending her engagement to Marilyn Manson in 2010, the 24-year-old came out as bisexual and has been open about her preferences, but GQ found a polite way to ask if she's just doing if for attention -- asking if it was just a "one-girl" thing.

"No, that's for real," she tells the magazine. "I've been that way since I can remember. I remember growing up and loving when i knew there was a girl like me who I looked up to. I figured I should return the favor. You don't have to be ashamed."

"Yeah, that's a big part of who I am, and it always has been for as long as I can remember," she told Marie Claire's October issue of her bisexuality. "I can't say I'm one way or the other because I've honestly fallen in love with a man and I've honestly fallen in love with a woman. I don't know how you label that, it's just how it is."

WHEN is AMERICA going to GROW UP when it comes to morals??? What ANY "ADULT" does
sexually or otherwise, as long as they are not hurting another Human Being, is THEIR business and THEIR business alone. America needs to STOP forcing morals onto others and GROW The HELL UP already!

Huff post not only has weak editorial content lately, but NEVER proofread before publishing. They definitely hold the record for most mistakes in their online articles. 3rd paragraph.

Hello, has anyone told you all that men are NOT monogamous by nature? Hello hello, has anyone told you all that young women can sleep with more than one man, and still be a good person? Hello hello, its 2011 and SEX IS A BODY FUNCTION. Hello hello - get out of politicians personal lives, and worry about them doing the right thing for others and for our country, and quit worrying about whose sleeping with who, whose getting a BJ in the Oral Office. Hello Hello, Clinton ran and excellant country but got hounded for 2 years about oral sex... W BUSH ran the COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND, but apparantly needed some good oral sex.... or something! Its hard to run up 6 trillion in debt, and talk our country into attacking two countries pre-emptively against everything in our Constitution and International laws.
What a silly shallow world we live in.... Can I thump someones head and try to slap some common sense into them?

Sociologyst writes, “Yeah, I'm sure every time you've had sex was to make babies. How many kids do you have at this point? And do you harass others who don't do things as you see natural? You know, dye their hair, wear polyester? Or is it just icky sex that you don't like and feel entitled to comment on?â€

When I was a kid, yeah, I was promiscuous. But at least I knew I was being promiscuous. I didn't try to rationalize it as a positive good. As for dyeing hair and polyester, the analogy is absurd, beyond Apples and Oranges.

"Since ending her engagement to Marilyn Manson in 2010, the 24-year-old came out as bisexual and has been open about her preferences"

Sexuality is not a preference. Preference is WHAT you like to do in bed, orientation is WHO you like to do.

I've always identified myself as bisexual: on the one hand I'm a straight male, on the other, I'm a lesbian female. It's just who I am... I can't change that.

After the fact, I thought of writing:

"I have always identified myself as bisexual: I'm attracted to both straight and gay women."
