Nicole Wallace: Sarah Palin Inspired Mentally Ill VP Character In New Book

A former McCain campaign adviser has some choice words for Sarah Palin.

Nicolle Wallace, who was also an aide for George W. Bush, told Time that Palin inspired the mentally-ill vice-presidential character in her new novel, "It's Classified".

Palin vacillated between extraordinary highs on the campaign stage — she ignited more enthusiasm than our side had seen at any other point — to debilitating lows. She was often withdrawn, uncommunicative and incapable of performing even the most basic tasks required of her job as McCain's running mate.

The decision to relocate debate prep from the campaign trail, which is where McCain did his prep, to Sedona, was to isolate her and help her overcome the shock of becoming an overnight celebrity. There certainly were discussions — not for long because of the arc the campaign took — but certainly there were discussions about whether, if they were to win, it would be appropriate for her to be sworn in.

This isn't the first time Wallace has unloaded on Palin. Last year, she called the former VP candidate "very prickly, very cynical." In 2009, she said Palin "hated me from the beginning."

Palin criticized McCain campaign staffers in her memoir, "Going Rogue", as controlling and judgmental. In one incident, Palin claims that Wallace trashed her wardrobe and insisted she buy designer clothes.

Wallace has dismissed Palin's book, referring to it as "based on fabrication" and "a bizarre fixation on things that everyone else has moved on from."

McCain, you'll never be forgiven for this.
NEVE, NEVER, NEVER!

There were worthy contenders; yet, you gave us THIS.

You need to apologize to the nation in A PUBLIC FORUM.

So much chatter about what might have been and yes, thank God we dodged that.....not bullet, but a bunker buster bomb. McCain was/is old and not in best of health. We knew that during the campaign. Tho he never fully released his medical records, there were many hints of ill health and it was obvious just watching his behaviors at times. So what would have happened if they had won and he died in office?!
Does anyone doubt that there would have been some far right religious/political fanatics who might have toyed with the idea of somehow hastening that event, perhaps even in a way that looked natural?
We dodged a bunker buster.

I think Gore Vidal had the best take on Palin. A couple years ago, in a departure from the regular format of "Real Time," Bill Maher interviewed the great Vidal for half an hour. Maher asked him, "What do you think of Sarah Palin?" Vidal responded, "I don't." Would that we could make her go away by simply not thinking about her.

This is one of those stories which makes me more angry everytime I think about it.

- We HAVE to do psychological evaluations on candidates; and after they're in office, we have to do psychological evaluations each year. The old joke that people lose their minds once they start working in Washington isn't funny.

- This person was a part of a team of people, backed by big-money-sources, whose purpose it was to HIDE THE FACT THAT THEIR CANDIDATE WAS STOOPIT AS A STONE AND KWAZZEE AS A BEDBUG. It boggles the mind and raises two more points:

- What is it going to take for the GOPnTP voters to learn how toxic and how destructive their party has become, to the point that they truly do not care, either about the American people or this country?

- If this doesn't meet the definition of a treasonous act, the definition has to be changed.

I have to agree. Nicole Wallace is the LAST person who should be trying to assume the moral high ground in this debacle.
