If nothing else, perhaps the passing of Steven Jobs will call attention to the fact why we need to do more research and put more money into finding a cure for pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest and most insidious of diseases.

Aside from his technological accomplishments, perhaps the money that was left behind by Jobs will be used for this purpose? That would be a tremendous legacy and testimony on the part of those that survive him.

Steve Jobs was a good looking man and considered himself a Buddhist at one time.

So, I guess 10,000 Apples a day didn't keep the doctor away.

Just bad luck. Too bad. He was a genius and a character.

It's hard to believe one man is responsible for so much of how we live our lives. Also can't believe how handsome he was as a young man....I admit I never followed the "Apple" story and only became familiar with him in recent years.

The first personal computer I ever saw was the Apple II that my dad bought.  Been an apple user since! I'm glad Forbes named him the CEO of the decade last year!

Ugh .... it is going to be a real challenge or Apple not to be overpowered internally by the mediocre puffed up egos of American corporate society, and being in Silicon Valley makes it even worse.

He was a ultra-talented unique person who forged his own place in the world and then performed in that niche splendidly. How on Earth can that be duplicated, sooner or later the politicians and bean counters are going to wedge themselves to power and turn Apple into an ineffective rotted out Microsoft.

However long Apple can keep going without succumbing to mediocrity is a tribute to Jobs' talent for management and his vision.

Such a bummer that this guy had to go so young.

3 apples have changed history:
The apple eve bite
The apple that fell on Newton
and the third was offered half bitten to the world by Steve Jobs, and has changed our technology forever.

The second means our space...Where we can Fly till rest
The third means Communication which will never end.
We need the three to feel and thrive with our daily bread...

I like some of their stuff, and disliked some of their stuff. Most of their stuff is overpriced. However, I give credit where credit is due Mr. Jobs was great not only at creativity simplifying advanced or future forward technology, but by being equally great at marketing and selling. Now that's talent. When you can get a legion of they type of loyalty Apple receives especially when selling products for what they sell products for is simply AMAZING.

> Most of their stuff is overpriced.

A lot of people say that, but the way I look at it, I prefer to say it like this ... you and Apple's critics undervalue your own time. If you ignore the time it takes to learn a new interface, and the time it takes to reload the system or debug complicated problems with libraries or registries, then if you do not really look at the experience of owning an Apple product, which I agree with you, they are not perfect, then you will think they are overpriced. It's like of like buying the best in anything ... no one likes to pay out a lot of money, but you get what you pay for. I think Apple is worth it

Wow. Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Eli Whitney, John Moses Browning, Matthew Boulton and James Watt, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Alexander Graham Bell...Steven Jobs. I think history will remember him in this list.

Thank you Steve Jobs for your integrity and your ingenious. I own 3 Macs and had different ones for the past 22 years. I wouldn't own anything else. You will be missed.
RIP.

It saddens me to see the loss of such a great genius. Steve Jobs accomplished things that others never thought were possible. He revolutionized the technology industry and will be missed. His casket and tombstone should have a lit up Apple logo.
RIP Steve Jobs
