Halloween In Minnesota: A MapQuest Guide
From zombie parades and costume contests to haunted houses and hayrides (to haunted anything!), the Halloween season casts its spell and awakens our inner ghouls and goblins. As part of FrightQuest -- a MapQuest series on spooky destinations and activities -- here are three options to celebrate Halloween in Minnesota that are sure to be a scream.

Screamtown
At Screamtown in Chaska, Minnesota, visitors are set loose to wander five terrifying attractions over eight sprawling acres. The self-guided tours -- featuring nearly 100 actors -- include the largest corn maze in the Twin Cities area, a circus/asylum-themed wooden maze and Oak Blood Forest. Screamtown is open weekend evenings throughout October. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children under 13, though this is not recommended for children under 10.

Nightmare Hallow Scream Park
Nestled in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Nightmare Hallow Scream Park is one of the area's most established Halloween attractions. Visitors experience an elaborate haunted hayride, a cage maze and a haunted house. The park is open weekends and some weeknights in October, with special entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays, including fire shows, haunted magic shows and a Captain Jack Sparrow impersonator. Tickets are $16.34 (not including tax) for ages 11 and up and $15.40 (not including tax) for children 6 to 10 at the door. However, advanced tickets can be purchased online here.

Excelsior BOOseum and Ghost Trolley
For haunted family fun with a historical twist, visit the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Historical Society's weekend Halloween event. Ride the Ghost Trolley and visit the BOOseum -- the Historical Society's museum transformed into a spooky haunted house -- complete with creepy live theater, music and concessions. All ages are welcome to the Society's events. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 10.
