Halloween In Nevada: A MapQuest Guide

From zombie parades and costume contests to haunted houses and hayrides (to haunted anything!), the Halloween season casts its spell and awakens our inner ghouls and goblins. As part of FrightQuest -- a MapQuest series on spooky destinations and activities -- here are three options to celebrate Halloween in Nevada that are sure to be a scream.
— Dan Gibson

The Las Vegas Halloween Parade

The Las Vegas Halloween Parade is still a relatively new affair, but after close to 1,000 costumed revelers hit downtown Las Vegas in 2010, this should prove to be a "can't miss" event. Organizer Cory Mervis has a history with the Burning Man festival and he brings the same chaotic freedom to the parade. All ages are invited. It's free to participate if you're in costume and it's a welcome break from the often over-polished feel of Vegas.

Toll House Pumpkin Patch

It really wouldn't be Halloween without a trip to the pumpkin patch, and possibly the best choice in Reno is the Toll House Pumpkin Patch. Yes, they have pumpkins for sale, but during the month of October there's lots of family-friendly Halloween entertainment, including a pumpkin-shaped bounce house, a haunted house, and face painting. Kids will love all the entertainment options and parents will be happy for the family fun and photo opportunities.

Fetish And Fantasy Halloween Ball

The raunchy Fetish and Fantasy Halloween Ball may not be for everyone, but it's one of the biggest Halloween events in the country and on nearly every list of "must attend" Halloween events for adults. More than 7,000 people have attended the party in past years, and with a lineup of burlesque-style entertainers, professional lasers and lighting, DJs and electronic musicians, this event just keeps getting bigger, racier and scarier. General-admission tickets cost $88, and VIP tickets -- which include free drinks and a chance to mingle with talent and celebs -- cost $237.
