Oprah's OWN network announced on Thursday that it will premiere new shows, "The Rosie Show" and "Oprah's Lifeclass" across five Discovery Communications networks next week. This includes OWN, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Fit & Health, and Planet Green. The shows will premiere simultaneously on Monday, October 10, with "Rosie" airing at 7pm ET and "Oprah's Lifeclass" at 8pm ET.
The move is an unusual one, and a sign of the growing pains OWN is going through as it struggles to find a steady audience. Discovery, which is the co-owner of OWN, is clearly trying to put the two shows in front of as many eyes as it can.
Monday marks Rosie O'Donnell's return to television. She will be joined by her celebrity crush, Russell Brand, and debut her new daily talk show from the studio where "The Oprah Winfrey Show" taped for 25 years. Rosie felt quite at home, and began redecorating the OWN offices as she acclimated to the new space.
O'Donnell has been quite vocal about her return to TV, and recently dissed ABC's "The View" while promoting her show. Oprah and Rosie have been spending a lot of time together preparing for their new gigs. Oprah taught Rosie how to sing names out like she does when welcoming guests on the show, which Rosie has picked up nicely.
