Blind Man Drives

Though Ronnie Presnell lost his vision in a car accident 13 years ago, he never lost sight of his dream to race his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro.

After Presnell was told he would never see again, the former dirt-track racer went to work on restoring his beloved car -- with the dream of racing it on the Charlotte Motor Speedway one day, wbtv.com reports

"I always sit in the grand stands [at races] and always wonder what it would be like to [drive]," Presnell told the news outlet.

That dream came true when NASCAR star Kenny Wallace hopped in the Camaro's passenger seat and gave the necessary verbal cues for Presnell to cruise at 20 miles per hour down the speedway "flawlessly."

Good for him. Kinda' like the scene in 'Scent of a Woman' where Pacino gets to drive the Ferrari.

What a great story! And for those of you that can't understand why or how a blind person can use an iPhone, iPad or Mac, well thank Steve Jobs and Apple. My husband is an accomplished musician and composer, who just happens to be blind. Thanks to Apple and the many app developers his life gets better every day both professionally and personally. Truly amazing story.
I read all the other headlines on HP about political feuds, serial killers, and which celebrities are wearing the nicest clothes. Then I come and read stories like this that make my day that much better.
But nobody comments on these stories!
