Dogfish Head's Pearl Jam Beer, Faithfull Ale, Commemorates Band's 20th Anniversary

First Posted: 10/07/11 09:58 AM ET Updated: 12/07/11 05:12 AM ET

In celebration of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary as a band and its debut album, "Ten," Dogfish Head brewery has created Faithfull ale, a Belgian-style golden ale with black currants to be released in mid-October.

"To me, 'Ten' is the perfect example of a record-lover’s-record. The whole thing rocks," says Dogfish Head President & Founder Sam Calagione. In support of the Pearl Jam's commitment to putting music before commerce, according to the press release, Dogfish is donating $20,000 to The Nature Conservancy.

Along with the release of this 7% ABV beer (available in all states where Dogfish is sold), the off-centered brewery is rereleasing the Miles Davis-inspired Bitches Brew and the Robert Johnson shoutout Hellhound on My Ale.

Dogfish Head also recently teamed up with Google to launch the Belgian Dubbel-style beer URKontinent.

With all the discussion about how food is the new rock, and all the musicians that are starting their own wine brands, the market could be ripe for more band-beer combos.

I love PJ and Dogfish Head so this is thrilling. I cannot wait to see Crowe's documentary about PJ's 20 years.

Love, love, love Dogfish head. Their brewery/pub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is the bomb. You can get a sampler of all their beers- 4 at a time, and be toasted before you know it.

I still listen to "Ten". Brilliant album, but sadly they never made anything else brilliant. And of course Vedder had to become the quintessential sanctimonious, self-absorbed rock activist.

I love this band. Those of you who think they are no longer relevant aren't relevant to me. So what?

Can't wait to get some Faithfull Ale. Know the song and love it too.

yeah it was dogfish's idea not eddie vedder, its a hommage to a great american rock and roll band. they are the rolling stones of the 90's generation, they're here for the long haul and will continue to make great albums, like it or not- they sell out just about every show around the world.

the rolling stones had good songs that you could sing to.. i bet no one can sing to a Pearl Jam song.. other than mumble some lyrics and you are close enough.

First and formost..the rolling stones have more then 3 song people know. Pearl Jam is a Fking joke. Don't ever compare that crap to a band that put out great albums and great music for 5 decades. Pearl Jam had one decent lp.thats it.

As much as any band in the 90's they gave shape to the music scene of subsequent years. Like them or not, they are and have been quite relevant.
07:26 PM on 10/07/2011
They're more relevant than Cobain....
