Except when South Africa votes no on a U.N. resolution that if passed would condemn Syria for its human rights violations. Then he's quiet as a church mouse.

Tutu has stood for justice. He fought hard for it in apartheid South Africa and he has always criticized Israel for it's apartheid policies against the Palestinians.

No, not so much. It's the right thing to do to keep a watchful eye on oppression and expose it for the evil that it is. Desmond Tutu is rightly critical of this oppression. We should all be hold oppressors accountable.

The older I get, the harder it gets to look up to anyone. There are no perfect heroes in this world, but Archbishop Desmond Tutu comes pretty close. Happy birthday and God bless.
