Sarah Palin: Hank Williams Jr. Controversy Is An Illustration Of 'Hypocrisy On The Left'

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended Hank Williams Jr., the country singer known for his appearances on Monday Night Football, over the controversy surrounding his comments comparing President Barack Obama to Hitler Thursday.

"Hank Williams and what he is going through now, I think it’s a very clear illustration of a greater societal problem and that is the hypocrisy on the left -- the liberals who can throw these stones at a conservative and they knowing that they’re not going to be held accountable," she said on Sean Hannity's radio show, according to Politico.

Williams appeared on "Fox and Friends" Monday morning, and was asked about Speaker of the House John Boehner playing golf with President Obama. "That would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu. Not hardly. In the shape this country is in?" he said. Brian Kilmeade, a host on the show, said he did not understand the analogy. "I'm glad you don't brother, because a lot of people do. They're the enemy... Obama! And Biden! Are you kidding? The Three Stooges."

After the interview ended, "Fox and Friends" host Gretchen Carlson interjected: "I just want to say that we disavow any of those comments or analogies that he's made, at least I'm going to say that, disavow the analogy between Hitler and the president." ESPN, the broadcaster of Monday Night Football, pulled Williams from their broadcast and permanently ended their relationship with the country star.

The former vice-presidential candidate who said she would not run for the presidency Wednesday defended Williams. "It’s a one-way street and we’re always walking on eggshells, aren’t we?" She added, "You know, like, oh geez, if I say that is somebody going to misinterpret it or spin it as something that is quote unquote racist or sexist or anything else? But the other side … they can say whatever they want and nobody calls them out on it. I think it’s pretty disgusting."

Palin went on to say that Mike Tyson's crude sexual comments made about her on a Las Vegas radio station were proof of hypocrisy. "What about Mike Tyson and the station that recently came out talking very crudely and some sick comments made? I don’t care that it was about me but some sick comments made and no apology there, no uh, no nothing," she said. (Williams apologized for his comments Tuesday.) "The hypocrisy shines very bright in what it is that we deal with everyday, doesn’t it, Sean?"

She's an opportunist that should just quit.......please quit. She quit her job in Alaska because she knew her ship was sinking, and she could make more money by ranting about right wing rhetoric.

A company can fire people for things they say in public. This is something that Republicans have held dear for years, and used it to clean house of any "liberals" in their midst. Now a company stops using an introductory song from a person who made a rude remark about the President and Palin calls "foul"? That's pretty funny!

you are right - any difference between this, which the gop rethugliclowns decry...and what happened to Bill Maher, or others who have spoken up?

How does she extrapolate this to a "Left" hypocricy. The last time i checked Fox was a right wing news network. They gave him a chance to get out of it and he kept right on running his mouth, but drunks have a tendency to do that, Also, Obama and Biden the "3" stooges. I guess that Alabama educational system has another fail

Any company has the right to set the standards for their employees and when one of those employees says or does something that would put the company in a bad light, then they certainly have the right to fire them....has nothing to do with "Free Speech". Palin, of course, gets too much FREE speech by leading the American Public along, getting all the FREE publicity she can muster to keep herself in the Public Eye in order to aggrandize herself and her Brand. My dream is that she is either eaten by a Polar Bear or she becomes so irrelevant that when someone mentions her name everyone asks, "Palin...isn't that a tanning lotion?"

Simple Sarah rears her empty head once again. She's definitely become the Brett Favre of politics.
01:46 PM on 10/10/2011
She quit her job in politics! Would a teacher who quit halfway through the year be considered for a Principal or Superintendent job? Would a law student who quit halfway through law school be nominated for the Supreme Court? (Well, maybe a conservative would) Would a soldier who quit the army halfway through his commitment because he didn't like how hard and dangerous it was be considered for a post as a General on the Joint Chiefs of Staff? Yet this is someone Republicans feel is a good role model and a good politician. This is the type of standard they have for themselves, which is why they are so incredibly bad at governing.

So typically despicable. Conservatives should never be allowed to use the word hypocrisy. It is absurd for her to even mention it. So let me see if I understand the ridiculous lies she is trying to pawn off on us. ESPN is a liberal organization, is that it? Really? And Mike Tyson is the spokesman for what show on ESPN that he didn't get fired from? Conservatives like her never stop to think, or care at all about any sort of accuracy. Just spout off with your partisan nonsense with no connection to anything. I am just so upset about this type of thing. How can these people actually be in charge of anything, never mind having taken control of the direction of this country and the political dialogue over the past few decades? Are people really that stupid and self-destructive? Do they really just try to lie and hurt their "opponents" even if they have to live in the same place and follow the same horrible ideas they force on us?

The guy apologised and he isn't the only one that has done this either.I say let it and him alone and carry on with everyday life.It really was no big deal in todays world as far as I'm concerned. They may want to look at all the positive things he has done especially concerning children.I sdon;t know where Sarah entered into the pic though. She needs to leave it alone though as well if she has n=been saying anything about it,if so I havn't seen it yet.Sarah is really quite and intelligent person and is in touch wioth the people, especially the middel lcass. Both sides would like to have her pitching for them.I bel;ieve also that once we have a new president and the old admin is changed which I'm pretty certain that the majority of office holders now will be changed.I believe that which evr party does win that she will be courted for a position within the new presidents admin and I also believe that it will be a position of much imporatnce, thats my outlook though and i respect evryone elses outlooks on the subject
