Steve Jobs Funeral Held Friday, Ceremony Private: Report

SAN FRANCISCO — The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the funeral for Apple co-founder Steve Jobs is being held Friday.

The newspaper cited an unnamed person familiar with the matter. The person described the ceremony as a small private gathering. The person would not say where or when Friday the funeral is taking place.

Apple would say only that no public funeral services are planned. Apple has invited the public to send memories, thoughts and condolences to rememberingsteve(at)apple.com

Jobs died Wednesday at 56. Apple Inc. announced no cause of death, but Jobs had been diagnosed with a rare pancreatic cancer seven years ago and had a liver transplant in 2009.

I'm so proud of his loved ones for choosing to make it private.

It appeared he chose to keep his star status in check and maintain a normal life for himself.

Anything other than that in death would not have been just.

I don't think it's inappropriate. It's quite a reasonable thought. Many entered the IT field because of him.

They put his name year he was born and year he died, quite understated much like himself.

His life was his own.

One does not have to know someone on a deep personal level to miss them. Perhaps this person identifies with Steve Jobs.

Many people miss Elvis and celebrate him often. I doubt they knew him personally.

My wife chose to have no funeral of any kind. She also chose cremation. She believed that anything you wanted or needed to say to anyone or about anyone, you needed to do so while they were alive. She set the example by walking the walk in her own life, not just words, wishes, or good intentions.

In so many ways she was and will forever remain, my hero.
