Cat Leads Rescuer To Her Kittens (PHOTO)

After being thrown from a car in the city of March, England, Jolie, a young black cat, was fed and nursed back to health by a good samaritan, who then called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), Ely Weekly News reported.

The frail cat was taken to the vet for treatment. It was obvious that she had just given birth to kittens, so after her recovery, RSPCA inspector Jon Knight returned with her to the location where she was found with the hope of finding the kittens.

Here, STV reports, is where the magic began.

"...It was such a rural area, I had little hope of finding them myself," Knight told the station.

"When she started to get really vocal at first I thought she was calling to the kittens, but then it became clear that she was actually calling to me! I began to follow her and she took me through the rear garden, across a ploughed field and into a farm yard."

Knight found the kittens, still too small to open their eyes, and brought them back to the vet along with Jolie.

"They would have only lasted two days if she had not taken me to them," Knight told the Daily Mail.

Thanks to Jolie's maternal instincts, all four kittens are healthy and being cared for at an RSPCA center with their mother until they are ready for adoption.

witnessing the intentional (and sometimes worse, unintentional) cruelty that people do to animals has left me discouraged more times than i can relate.

but sometimes, there's a story like this that does have a better ending, hopefully, a happy one.

we should pay attention to those who would mistreat animals - it's a red flag that they'll treat (weaker) humans the same.

Thank heaven for caring people ... I've always felt that the 'tallest' people in this world were those who stooped down to help a needy child or animal in distress. These people are 10 FEET TALL in my estimation.

This is really upsetting and revolting: "American Pickers" with Mike & Frank on the History Channel (history.com) is right now featuring them visiting these absolute scum who have a gallery of beautiful bears that have been taxidermied. More disgust: These two creeps, Mike & Frank, are speculating with greedy delight just what a profit they'll make in the taxidermic bears' resale. Have they no shame besides any morals? This program should be boycotted, and that's just what I'm doing here on out.

Thrown from a car. What the hell is wrong with people? At least this story had a happy ending. May the kittens, and especially mama cat, find the best possible homes.

So HORRIBLE !

They found the kittens and obviously mom was nearby so the suspects must be close. I wish the article addressed the investigation more.

A very touching story! Thank goodness for the RSPCA and other organizations like them. Glad to know their are still some caring people in the world! I personally could never say or do anything to hurt another human being or living thing / animal. It makes me ill when I read of reports like this. A good rule of thumb is 'do unto others as you would have done to you'.

Great story! So glad the cat and her kittens are doing so well. Can we now find the idiot who through her out of the car and left her kittens for dead?

For those of you with white cats that have one eye a different color from the other (called odd-eyed cats), one being blue, read this interesting research on wikipedia that reports that the side of them with the blue eye is deaf:

Thanks Anna. After you pointed this out, I did more research and found that it is NOT the case with every white cat with odd eyes, just as you indicated. I bet your little doll face is "cute as a freakin' button!" Happy Halloween to you and her. October should be declared National Cat Month, don't you think so? But then, nowadays, one never knows what's right or wrong to do anymore.

I'm getting to the point where I think that people just suck. They throw away their pets, they abuse or kill their children....for what???? WTF???? I think people need to kick back and start taking life lessons from animals.

Disgusting i like my animals more than i like people. who would hurt a defenseless animal.

There are some wonderful people in this world like the ones who saved this mother cat & kittens, & stories like this make me feel so warm inside; however, those 'cruel' few, in my eyes, are lower than a snake. With them, I share your disgust !

Humans are a complicated and often cruel species. Try to find the humans that aren;t. This story includes a human who is compassionate. Focus on that and shut out the rest.

While this story DOES have a happy ending, I'm once again disgusted with people in general for the inhumane treatment of animals. This kitty is so tiny, yet such a beauty. She needed to have been spayed and nurtured with lots of love - NOT tossed with such cruelty from a moving car. God bless those who took her in and aided in finding her kitties!

What a very cool story! I love cats and the way she was treated is so cruel. I would go absolutely nuclear on the person I witnessed do something like this. But, let's hope she took a good piss in their car before they tossed her. Thanks to the kind person who helped her. Gives me a little hope.... :o)
