Tigers Vs. Rangers LIVE UPDATES: Verlander, Wilson Start Game 1 ALCS

LIVE UPDATES: Tigers vs. Rangers Game 1 ALCS

With the Detroit Tigers having dispatched the New York Yankees in a thrilling winner-take-all game in the Bronx, the scene shifts to Texas. The entire Rangers' squad is rested and ready, having wrapped up their ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays in four games. Although the Tigers' lineup may be filled with batters still weary from the decisive game at Yankee Stadium, the man they send to the hill should be feeling fine. Justin Verlander was held back from the win-or-go-home matchup in New York by skipper Jim Leyland, a move that was questioned by many at the time as his pinstriped counterpart had his own ace, CC Sabathia, available. All of a sudden Leyland's move -- and his confidence that he'd have another game to manage this year -- seems brilliant. Verlander is on schedule and ready to go to open the ALCS. He'll be opposed by C.J. Wilson. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST.
