Obama Strategy May Be Paying Off With Swing State Voters Ahead Of 2012

Obama Jobs Plan Polls

The New Republic:

Recent polling data confirm that Obama's strategy is paying off with both base and swing voters. In the most recent Washington Post/ABC poll, Democrats say they trust Obama over the Republicans in Congress to create jobs by 79-8, up from 69-11 in September. And Independents, too, now favor Obama on jobs, by 44-31, a big shift from 37-42 in September.

Pres. Obama is doing as good as conditions permit. He should be able to get reelected if the Republicans keep up their dog and pony show. The truth is that both parties go back and forth in winning elections and that is the only way that things can be.

However, Obama could still use better PR because the public is in need always of hearing better messages, not just more optimistic but also more insightful and educational. Obama should be seem by the public not ideologically left, right or moderate---but as a pragmatic lawyer.

He should be seen as a lawyer basically---who will get the job done and that means fighting to make Congress make painful compromises. People understand lawyers. They know most cases have to be about settling for half a loaf. Also that the system involves a lot of ritual that gets injustices and problems to be faced as best possible.

If you are a person who is a political junkie of whatever flavor, I suggest you view a movie on stupidity. A one hour, free Snag Films video that should make anybody think a little deeper.

The Republicans are going to win in 2012 no problem. Because Obama is a Republican

Strategy?? Are you kidding me? This is another piece designed to prop up a failed Presidency.
11:00 PM on 10/10/2011
What strategy is that? The lacksadaisical, delusional one that allowed the Republicans to take the House and turn a crisis into a catastrophe? The one where he didnt' understand the underlying problem of offshoring and low wages. I, I forgot, the strategy of passing a medical care bill that doesn't control costs and forces or prompts citizens to buy private policies from a group of paper shuffling gangsters that live in castles while ordering Medicare recipients to not organize for lower drug prices. Also, forgot the lie the one about stopping the Bush tax cuts - trillions in dollars to the richest citizens. Apparently, there are the Jeffersonian liberals in the Occupy movement and those that totally support them and then there are the fern bar liberals who support this failed President.

A Washington Post/ ABC poll is independent and creditable? I wouldn't trust any of their results one way or the other, but it is amazing to me that anyone would trust Obama to create jobs based on results to date over the last three years. Governor Perry has created more jobs in Texas then the federal government which should clear up which party knows how to create new jobs best. Now if you want to know which party knows how to spend $800 Billion stimulus money and create no new jobs but put off the layoffs of union public service employees in states that were getting ready to lay off due to budget cuts, well, that Obama knows how to do. And, he want to do the same thing again with his new "Jobs Bill" which again is aimed at his union friends. The millions of out of work white collar workers in the private sector will never get any help from this President.

Our economy started creating new jobs just as the stimulus money was beginning to be spent. From January, 2010 through February, 2011, the economy created over 2 million net new jobs. The economy is still creating new jobs.

About those Texas jobs...they're pretty much all minimum wage with no benefits, so from my point of view, those aren't the kind of jobs that will help people earn a decent living wage at all. That's not exactly what I would call evidence of which party creates jobs best.

The reason people are seeing the light now is because they realized he is the only ADULT in the Goverment and it is sad, our education system is a mess and the politicians for the most part are a bunch of educated fools who know how to past test but have no ability to reason. I must say this, 2012 for OBAMA will be bigger than 1984 for REAGAN, I see 57 states going for OBAMA and I mean 50 states and the 6 territories along with DC! A NEW DAWN RISING-OBAMA 2012!

They reason why they have to believe in Obama: nobody wants to admit they were that gullible to vote for him the first time and regardless of how bad he has made our economy!! LOL!!

I lost the last time? Really, and how are all the jobs working out for you, the economy, do you have any positive outlooks at all?

Who lost? Even funnier yet you want to have to listen to 4 more years of him spewing his worthless rhetoric and still end up with nothing! LOL!!

But hey, Thanks for the laugh!!

Any candidate from either side would make a far better President. Even Hillary or Feingold. Anyone.

Keep going Obama.. we have your back.

Even though he stabbed all his working class supporters in the back? What are you a Wall St banker? Or maybe you work for BP or the nuclear weapons industry?

You just have to believe in the power and permancy of our courts to vote for D vs. R, that's all. Clinton was luck that Greenspan, Rubin, and Summers helped engineer the repeal of Glass Steagall towards the end of his term, so DURING his term the economy did well. After, well, we saw what happened, aided by the Bush wars.

That article is contrary to what most of the polls are saying. Most polls, Quinnepiac, Rasmussen, IBD/TIPP, Gallup, are saying that this "strategy" is not working at all.

I say keep up the agitating. It will lead to an even bigger landslide loss that obama had in 2010.

Maybe J. Immelt, our illustrious CHANGE CANDIDATE's appointment to top "jobs creation" post can help create more jobs. By shipping out 30,000 GE jobs I guess job creation won't be as difficult.
Barack Obama is so smart.

Those jobs weren't shipped offshore; they were sold to another American company.

Just keep fighting and pulling the curtain back, so the American people can see who is really standing up for them and who is standing in the way of moving this country forward.

GDP was having it's worst quarter in the history of the US, -8.9%

In the previous 12 months, over 4.4 million jobs had been lost.

The stock market was continuing to fall, and would fall by 65% before Obama was inaugurated.
01:09 AM on 10/11/2011
And the stock market bottomed about two months after Obama got into office.

President Obama has done a great job with his short time in office. Everyone needs to understand how the political play clock runs in the US. He certainly does.

The reality is that credit-based recessions take 8-12 years to recover from. We're just in year 3. It won't matter if a repub or Jesus is elected as the next president - Repubs think they have all the answers but they're not going to accelerate the natural deleveraging process that takes so much time to work thru. People should check back in about 2020 to see how the economy is doing then.
