'Wild Man': From Kate Bush's '50 Words Of Snow' (VIDEO)

The ethereal British artist Kate Bush hasn't produced anything new since 2007, when she wrote a single song, "Lyra," for "The Golden Compass" movie (we're not counting Bush's recycling of her own work in this year's Director's Cut). So today is momentous for admirers of Bush rock. The first track off her upcoming 50 Words Of Snow is circulating ahead of its digital release tomorrow. The track, called "Wild Man," is classic Bush, all ghostly orchestration and pinched vocals, and the album itself is an intriguing triumphant return: Elton John, and, oddly, comedian Stephen Fry, appear on several tracks. You can listen to the full seven-minute album version of "Wild Man" at the disco naivete tumblr, or to the BBC radio edit below. 50 Words Of Snow is due out Nov. 21.

She actually looks pretty good for her age. its as if she's made a deal with God and got him to swap someone's place with her.

Easily one of my favourite artists. Too bad she took a turn for the worse on Hounds, and produced nothing as good since.

From "Running up that hill" ..."And if I only could, I'd make a deal with God"...

I was seduced from "hello" and soon after initiated to Kate Bush, and then, mistakenly, I too tried to make a deal with God that love wouldn't end before it began, but he was showing me the end before I jumped into the beginning and the middle and from that moment on I was running up that hill trying to catch up with love and pleading with God and pretending that I didn't see what I saw, and I fell, I fell hopelessly and hard and cried...for what could have been. They were tears for prayers answered, but for the longest time, I thought I was chastised for seeing too much when love is blind, but really it was for running from the truth and settling when I knew I needed SO MUCH MORE.

Kate Bush was part of the magic that showed me the way and the voice that woke me up.

"They that love best their love shall not enjoy." - William Shakespeare "Venus and Adonis"

Be true. To yourself, first.

Thanks for this, Skialethia. You were the first person I ever fanned here, the only one whose fanning of me ever meant anything to me. I knew that beneath and behind your passionate defense of the dispossessed there must exist a powerful soul force, but I've not seen it so nakedly expressed before.

Anyone remember that one? How many weeks at number one in the UK?

from Wikipedia:
Wuthering Heights quickly reached number one in the UK Singles Chart, staying there for four weeks, and propelled the singer to fame. The song also was a hit in Australia, taking the top spot during Autumn in 1978 for three weeks. Its release unwittingly pitted Bush against another female vocalist, also charting with her first hit: Debbie Harry with her band Blondie, and their single "Denis." Amid much public discussion about the two singers' merits, Bush came out on top, while Blondie stalled at number two.

"Wuthering Heights" was replaced at No.1 by Brian and Michael's celebration of the then-recently deceased artist L. S. Lowry, "Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs," thus having the number-one slot feature a classic of English literature followed by a tribute to a renowned painter. In reaching number one, Bush became the first woman to write and perform a UK chart-topper. "Wuthering Heights" remains Bush's biggest-selling single in the UK, and was certified gold by the BPI for sales of over half a million.[10] It was the 11th best-selling single of 1978.

Oh, to be in love again with Mrs. Bertolozzi! She made that one very snide video about a fellow artist, but I laughed so hard I forgave her. Lovelly, lovelly, lovelly Katie!
