Michelle Obama Does Jumping Jacks In Workout Gear (PHOTOS)

Michelle Obama continued her "get fit!" campaign with a major goal: a world record for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period.

And today, wearing a tank top, black leggings and a purple hoodie, she joined 400 local students on the White House South Lawn to get started.

As AP reported, the First Lady did one minute of jump jacks with hundreds of students, who are only a fraction of what's needed to break the record. That will require 20,425 people jumping and recording their jacks by 3pm on Wednesday, possibly at National Geographic Kids-hosted locations across the country.

"The whole country, the world is going to see just how much fun we can have— not just breaking a world record but also doing some exercise," Mrs. Obama said.

It was just one more outdoor activity keeping the First Lady's body busy, after last week's soccer clinic and pumpkin picking and a tennis exhibition last month.

jumping jacks are so incredibly hard, man. i just started boxing and haven't done them since i was in elementary school...what i thought was such a basic exercise is absolutely a butt kicker!

i like the green on her. she looks comfortable. wonder if its lululemon.

We are so lucky to have such a terrific First Lady. How great that she motivates kids to be outdoors and active! Healthy kids do better in school and live happier lives. If these photos encourage more families to do the same--and they surely will--- it's a win-win for America. Bravo!

69 gatrillion, bazillion dollars, all of which came out of the AMERICAN taxpayers personal pocket. I know, because I have a friend, who is a friend to a cousin of the great grandniece of the 3rd shift north gate guard.

They had to helicopter the kids in and it cost $40,000 per kid and that doesn't even include the cost of those tea shirts. Rill Americans can do the math.

And her outfit--well I could feed my family for 6 months.

FLO should quit with the jumpin' and jabberin' and let the kids stay in class and learn something! They get plenty of exercise at recess, after school and on the weekends! Didn't see one overweight kid in the bunch.

Ok so someone always has to point this out to folks like you. This is the STYLE section, it is not being billed as NEWS it is being billed as a story in the style section. If you don't want to read stories about style or fashion or trivial things like that, then go to a different section.

I would wager a guess that it isn't really the story that is the issue to you but rather the object of the story.

I'm not a big fan of Mrs Obama but I see nothing wrong with what she is doing. We all have free speech but sometimes we become so petty and vicious in our crticism of Mrs Obama that I can only think it's because of her color, and I don't think I'm playing the race card.
