History.com - The Occupy Wall Street movement has entered its fourth week of demonstrations in New York City’s Financial District and is spreading to other cities across the United States and abroad. The participants’ choice of venue highlights the fact that, although many financial institutions are no longer based there, Wall Street remains a powerful symbol of the American economic system. For this reason and others, the iconic thoroughfare and surrounding areas in lower Manhattan have attracted numerous protests, riots and other gatherings since the 18th century. Explore the map below to find out about some of these historic events.

It's so funny these protester's make all the accusations that people on wall st stole, broke, laws,
stole their money but yet they have no proof of who or what were the wrong doings that stole from them?

The wrong doings were the purchasing of politicians by corporations on both sides of the isle. .....This gives the middleclass and poor voters essentially no choice in selecting representatives the speak for them. Therefore you go to their owners and protest because you'll get absolutely no response in washington.

And still the struggle continues, 300 years later. When will it ever end? As long as people allow themselves to be abused by the rich & powerful. The American revolution never ended, and we are still fighting off an oppressive establishment.

I GUESS THEY ARE THE JOB CREATORS?

No to stand up for what was taken from the middleclass and poor through the purchasing power of the rich and corporations. The ability to purchase both sides along with the media and leave 99% of voters without true representatives.

Bless these protestors. Some nut on CNBC at 11:30 CST had the nerve to say the following: "The banks were forced to make all those bad loans." Was he serious? The banks should have standards for loans like everyone else has standards for people with whom they are doing business. The truth is they made all the bad loans knowing they would end up with a load of properties they could finance on the other side. If only we were in Rome, I could throw the host to the lions.

When 10% of Americans own 70% of the wealth of America, we've turned into fascists, which is what America has become.
