Md. Democratic Superdelegate Scouts Out DNC Site

WASHINGTON -- For Maryland Democratic Party chair Yvette Lewis, scouting out hotels and conference sites for next year's Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., isn't just about seeing the sites of the Queen City. It's also a homecoming of sorts.

As Creative Loafing Charlotte reports, state Democratic Party officials have been touring the site of September's big convention and Lewis, a superdelegate in Maryland's 112-member delegation, has been checking out the city where she grew up: "I always thought that Charlotte was great; now everybody else gets to see why," she told Creative Loafing.

Lewis, who lives in Bowie, is a professional opera singer and became chair of the Maryland Democratic Party earlier this year.
